Nope, you aren't missing anything else :) It is either legacy workflows, old habits, or just preference to gain a specific result that is desired for artistic reasons.

We'd need more information. First, please don't say "latest" because what you think is the latest may not be - please always just say the specific version :) So, do you mean Corona 8, 8  HF1, or 8 HF2?

Then what do you mean by denoising not working in lightmix, is it not working for any of the light select layers, is it not working for just one specific layer? What layers do you have set up? You can check each light select individually to see if denoising is having an effect. Seeing some render, and some of the layers, and some screen grab of your light select set up would be useful too. What render target did you use, time, noise, or passes, and what was set for that? What denoiser mode did you use, Corona, NVIDIA, Intel, or Gather for Later? It might also be worth sharing the scene ( and "Submit a request" to share it privately with us, rather than publicly on the forum).

News / Chaos Corona 8 for 3ds Max (Hotfix 2) released

This hotfix addresses two specific issues, all Corona for 3ds Max users are recommended to download it.

Download now:

The issues are:
- a fix for a crash if the render engine was swapped to Corona when not logged in to the Chaos License Server
- a fix for an issue where a black environment combined with non-black environment overrides could lead to NaNs.

There are no other changes.

This is already possible, cameras can have their own exposure settings (or indeed complete tone mapping stack now in Corona 8), and you can also conveniently access the camera's tone mapping in the VFB. See

Can you list the name of 2 or 3 assets that load correctly, and 2 or 3 that load incorrectly? Also, host software version, Corona version would also be vital to know.

No inconvenience at all - for one thing, we need to find out why that is happening for some people with the link (even if the link itself is no longer needed due to HF1), so it was good to have this reported!
