hey mate - im using max 24 with the last official corona release.

hi team - im still getting that issue when in IR mode, the IR keeps in this motion UNTIL i click off screen (ie another window program) and then IR resumes.  It seems to be with forest pack objects.

Hi, which version of 3ds Max are you using? I am asking this question because we had some similar reports in the past and it always happened with 3ds Max 2022. If you are using this version, one solution would be to update to a newer one.
Also, did it start happening only after you installed a daily build? It never happens with Corona 11 HF2?
Other than that, I can only recommend submitting a new support ticket and sharing the scene with us: https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/requests/new

yeah i know thanks - but we shouldnt have to!  its been an ongong issue thats been here before and im not sure what exactly causes it - could it be forest pack?

had these a bunch of times, you can hover your mouse over the 3dsmax interface, just not on the viewports for it to restart

i think we get to a point in our career where we know Max/Corona very well and diagnosing issues.... a tool like this would be awesome!  even to optimise a scene and be well prepared for 3ds max scenes

I personally like the idea because especially in arch-viz scenes can get rather large which obviously has an effect on parsing times.

That said typically what increases scene parsing times is just loads and loads of geometry. It does help a ton of its instanced but even then it, from my understanding at least, isn't trivial to place all the geo in places. I would assume that if you turn a couple of those heaviest forest packs off things will get speedier but I already know you know that so this is kind of useless advice probably :)

If I may I'd suggest a +1 on RecentSpacesSam's feature suggestion thread there. That way we can keep better track of how many people are interested in this particular feature.

thanks so much
Thanks, I will check it ASAP.

hey mate - i reverted to a previous scene, imported models that i did make within the daily, and it still crashes?  not sure what to do?
i did submit a ticket - if you could please review?

thanks all - however now that i revert back to the HOTFIX, it still crashes - but not when i select camera - after or during a render now.

Is there some diagnostic tool i can view or file dump to see where and what is causing?

Did you save a file with a Corona 12 daily build and then load it in Corona 11? Sorry, but that won't work.
You can capture a minidump and send it to us for analysis, but if what I wrote above is your scenario, then there is nothing we could fix: https://support.chaos.com/hc/en-us/articles/4649117083409-How-to-report-issues-3ds-Max

i dont know whats happening today but everytime i create a corona camera, it crashes the scene!  latest daily.

Thanks so much mate - i hope Corona could help with a better diagnostic to help[ assist with whats causing bottle necks

Hi guys

I have a scene which isnt HUGE, but a decent size.  7 or so forest packs, railclone roofs.  WHen i do IR, it just seems to take forever.  I have a ryzen 5995wx with 256gb ram so theres plenty of power there, just not sure if theres a tool or something in corona to help diagnose where the bottleneck is?

hey guys - 9 years later - this hasnt been solved?

could we PLEASE add a function to FLIP the image horizontally - just to refresh the eyes to look at the render from a new perspective.

It keeps loading and loading

glad im not the only one - ive even spent thousands on updated hardware thinking it would fix the problem.  Its literally been like this since i started using max over 10 years ago.  In fact, i think its gotten a little worse.
@CoronaDevs - i think this needs to be looked at for sure.

For me, this biggest time waster over the years is the UI (material editor) - i know its not a corona thing (or it could have an impact?) - however the material editor, becomes slow and sluggish, mainly in heavier scenes (not really that heavy, fairly detailed interior scenes.  2-3 seconds for things to open.... and i do have the most of the latest hardware/software.... again, not sure if this is solely a autodesk thing or a combination between autodesk and corona materials, however its just so sloowwww and it kills my patience... it sometimes feels like im using a intel pentium from the early 2000's..... its 2024, UI, all of them, should be zipppy and we shouldnt be held back by such nuances.

I get that too: the material editor becomes really so slow sometimes, especially when IPR is running, up to the point that I have to stop the IPR, only then I'm able to tweak my materials in the SME, and only then I start the IPR again to see the results. This isn't how things should be: ideally I wouldn't have to stop the IPR in order to be able to tweak the materials, but if I don't the SME UI is just sooooo slow, it's unbearable.
