Hi Nikola,
I think you must test yourself, we are no longer beta testers, we pay to have a stable version...
No More daily build please.

Just use the Stable release then. It's very wise to allow consumer testing of the daily builds. As everyone works differently and into different pipelines. The personnel at Corona cannot possible have the time and knowledge to beta test all variables. Moreover open-beta testing  encourages dialogue and community among the user-base.

I'm not sure what you are getting at here...I have no problems with inverted displacement on library materials or my own creations. And I cant reproduce your whole cube or single side of a cube difference. Are your geommetry normals facing the right way?

(Normal maps need the 'Y' channel flipping normally - is that what you are refering to?)

you can probably make that by having a high roughness in the base channel/refraction. and putting a clearcoat over the top.

I dont think translucency will give the correct result

Maybe its too late to mention but I'd LOVE a geommetry clipping like Vray Keyshot etc

So can I infer from that answer that the materials in the library are best-practice examples?

Hi. Take a look at the thread already made here: https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?topic=33462.0

I think there is an open question as to wether the current daily build library has best-practice materials - or if they're temporary conversions from the Max library and will be updated for the V7 release

[C4D] Daily Builds / Re: New Material library
« on: 2021-06-08, 22:44:40 »
I think there is a real point to address here.

The real reason that I want a material library from the Corona team isn't simply to save me making materials myself.

It's more so that I can see how materials really should be built, in the best possible way by the devs who really know how Corona works. Partially this is to make up for the lack of Corona documentation.

Thanks for adding the libraray - it's much appreciated. But I must admit that some of the metals dont really look like best-practice versions. (Why colour in the diffuse? Shouldn't there be more nuance in the reflection colour than just using white etc.)

+1 from me. Would save a ton of work

Also I just notices that Affinity is on half price at 25 euro for a perpetual licence - which is pretty much giving it away!

Have you thought about giving Affinity Photo a try? its cheap and has full exr support.
Every workaround I've tried with PS has not ended well :(

« on: 2021-05-10, 08:24:30 »
I'd advise just giving it a try witjh a trial version. C4D is very UI friendly and logical. And I find their CAD importer to be excellent. But it has its drawbacks too.
(The UV system used to be pretty poor, but it has recently had a overhaul apparently.)

Companies like Slashcube get away with it being their primary tool so it obviously can work OK.

The main problem with swapping is not the software in my experience - it's that your working habits are oftem so ingrained that its hard to break free from them, especially if your working on 'real' projects all the time.

Amazing detail. Very impressive!
I'd be interested in knowing more about your process if you ever have time to share.

[C4D] General Discussion / .axf material import?
« on: 2021-04-02, 13:17:05 »
An industrial design client of mine is now storing all its materials in x-rite's .axf (Appearance Exchange Format) material system.

It would be incredibly handy of I could use it too - but I don't see any support currently for Corona.
Is it in the pipeline? Or does anyone have any tips as to how I can get the data into Corona for now?
