Gallery / The Qinhuangdao masterplan
« on: 2019-06-04, 11:05:20 »
Hello Corona friends, I'm happy to post some images here showcasing work that we recently completed on the Qinhuangdao masterplan for Zaha Hadid Architects. This project was a big challenge, we were working with cleverly generated data from the ZHA team including the locations of different tree types, traffic and other elements as particle information. The aerials were produced as matte paintings at 12K pixels wide for extra details. We are well known for creating matte paintings of large scale projects, and Corona was a great help to us in working on this massive scene.

[Max] General Discussion / Normals render elements AOV
« on: 2019-01-22, 15:43:40 »
Hello friends,

Normals do not render as I expect, is Corona using a different space for calculation from other renderers for this AOV?

You think :) ? I know I can. But I'd rather do what I have to in one render and not wait for two different shots to get rendered.

There are lots of things I'd like < : Why limit your toolbox? Statesets would also make this easy.

AFAIK the way camera clipping works means that your request is not possible. Another way around this would be to slice the geometry and assign a Rayswitch material with a Coronamaterial in only the Global Illumination slot to the part that you want to hide from the camera.

[Max] Feature Requests / Corona lister and instances
« on: 2019-01-18, 11:08:04 »
Hello,

I just booted up the Corona lister and was surprised to see 6 pages of lights, when my scenes 500 lights are made up of six instances. This is probably already known but a search didn't bring up any posts so I thought I would mention it.

Best,

J.

Funny, I just posted a similar answer in a different thread but you could accomplish this by compositing two renders together.

This sounds like something you would accomplish by compositing two renders together.

[Max] Feature Requests / Re: LIGHTMIX - render element names
« on: 2017-11-20, 10:13:01 »
Hi Njen,

Thanks for your response. Running a simple script to add a prefix after setting up the lightmix would fix the symptom but leave the problem. It is also prone to human error ("oh yea, I forgot to run that script before sending my render job").

All your script would do is to add an array of lights to a LightSelect render element. This is not the same as setting up Lightmix and doesn't address the request I have made.

Best,

J.

Great idea. Lenscare by Frischluft does something like this.

[Max] Feature Requests / LIGHTMIX - render element names
« on: 2017-11-16, 13:32:54 »
Hello all,

Could the LIGHTMIX setup please add the render element type / class as a suffix on the name and filename output so;

Interactive LightMix becomes CShading_LightMix-Interactive
Environment becomes CShading_LightSelect-Environment
Sun001 becomes CShading_LightSelect-Sun001

As it is now we have no way of knowing what render element output files are LightSelects for further processing (OK, I can assume that anything not named well is a light but that isn't very elegant or certain).

Thank you!

Hello all,

I am not sure if this has been mentioned, I did have a bit of a look but didn't see anything. We have been using CIE for a recent project and I note that when you "Save all", all render elements, including non-illuminated elements (CMASKING, CGEOMETRY) are effected by the settings under the "Post" tab. I assume this is a bug as you don't really want masks, normals, etc to be adjusted with exposure. Interestingly the ZDepth seems OK.

Best,

J.

.  As a side note, I'm pretty sure the MC from the D2 video is going to show up at my house and break my kneecaps because I posted this...

Do you mean Peter the co-founder and CEO of the ChaosGroup?

Hi,

I thought I would speak up to help rebalance as there seems to be a lot of negativity about this.

I was lucky to be on hand to persoanlly congratulate the Corona team at D2. This is a clever match that will ensure the survival of Corona and accelerate the development of features with technology that Vlado and the team at the ChaosGroup have worked hard to develop since the start of VRay. I am looking forward to closer intergration of the two and using whichever renderer suits the needs of the task at hand with as little fuss as possible.
Thank you to both the Corona and VRay teams for being on hand to answer question personally at the D2, and to Vlado for taking the time to talk directly to people on the forums. Exciting times!

Josh.
