Can you please explain what you mean here? Some image example would be nice. A scene showing this would be perfect.

We are also planning caustics improvements for the future versions, so if you are getting some issues, it is likely that they will be resolved.

you would think Tom would have fixed the caustics by now after 3 more whole version numbers of corona render!

the same scene that you used in your own splash install screens the caustics is utterly broken it still produces crap fireflies that never go away on shiny metal surfaces curved or not and now in corona 8 daily build, the beaker glasses with water in the scene produce no caustics or dispersion like the water bottle i have pictured above even though i have turned on caustics solver and checked caustics (slow) on the material as well as having all the lights generate caustics with caustics from environment turned on too.

I am not a developer - there's no way I can fix anything in the code, even a simple typo in a parameter name :)

Not with that attitude! You just need to believe in yourself! Lightmerge already believes in you, you can do it!

That's it - I am going to do it! I am going to become a coder, I used to know BASIC programming, how much harder can this be? And I am going to learn all about Light Transport and the physics and equations of it all! I am thinking by Corona 30 I should be ready to set to work on this caustics problem! Look out world... which reminds me, I can start with a "Hello world" program to get ready for it all!

If I recall correctly, on the C64 all you need to do it enable the magic switch: 'poke 53280,5' and then create a loop for sampling...
From the top of my head:

10 poke 53280,5 (that's the important part)
20 for i=0 to 100
30 print i
40 goto 20

That should do it. Also, it's really fast.

On a serious note, I'm still a bit puzzled that all the 'caustics don't work' talk is based on a picture of a golden Jesus statue in a pool.

Could representation of a man walking on water in a pool kinda ask for miraculous light/caustics in places no one expects them to appear?

Have faith, for belief brings wonderful answers.
