Hello there,

While I was setting up a relative simple scene, I have noticed that the portals make my scene darker and also make the render slower.
I always use portals for my interiors and this is the first time I see something like that.
I have attached two images. One with portals on and one with portals off.
The image with portals on took 7 mins and 5 secs to be completed
The image with portals off tool 4 mins and 15 secs.

Light also splotches alot, which is worrying.

If you need the scene I can send it.

Cheers,
Christos

I forgot to mention specs.

3ds Max 2018
Corona 3 (Hotfix 1)
Default render settings, plus bloom and glare enabled (default values).

Thanks,
Christos

Please send the scene and let us know which upload method you used and what was the file name. The uploader is in my signature.

What kind of render limit did you use? Was it by any chance noise limit?

Hey,

I have just sent the scene called "Portals Bug Scene" with private uploader.
I run these tests with noise limit 3.0 and denoise amount 0.3.

Turn off the artificial lights in order to run the tests.

As you will see, the camera is set in the basement of the house and the portals are on the ground floor of it. The HDRI light passes through the portals and then through a stair.

Thanks!

We will definitely test this, however noise limit may be giving a bit confusing results here.
It would be better to render the image with specific time limit (e.g. 5 minutes) and compare the results.

Same issue here. The room gets darker.

Any news on eliminating portals from Corona? I believe that was the plan, right?
