Hi guys,

Do you think there is a script somewhere for Max, or a way to:

1- Add a ID to all materials present in a scene, in an automatic way, without having to add them manually ?
2- Add all mask ID render element needed to render all masks, without again, to add them manually in the render element tab ?

At work I'm using Maya / Vray, and we have developped a script to do this in 2 clicks.

What do you think ?

Thanks guys !

Not sure if this is what you're after but at least partially it seems so - there are a couple of scripts what can randomize and assign material and object ids - http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/scripts/mass-randomizer , http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/scripts/random-master-1-0 - the two I usually use, or even this monster of a randomizer http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/scripts/modifier-modifier-zorb which can randomly assign all id's (mat. IDs, object IDs, G-buffer IDs and can do much, much more) too but can be quite slow on large scenes (+probably some of these http://www.scriptspot.com/search/apachesolr_search/material%20id would do that as well) Those 3 are mostly used for the actual randomization and assigning of those ids and not for automatic mask\render element creation, still it is most probable that there are some scripts which could do that too, its just what I use id's quite often but mostly for material randomization but I don't use those masks\render elements\passes or more specifically use them on a very basic level, thus have only a very basic understanding of what this script should actually do and how the process should go, but, still, I think one of those 3 may help with at least a part of the task )
