Got the same problem today. I can´t add Render Elements on Max 2017 using Scanline. Instant Crash. I need Scanline to render Masks faster. Is there a Way to setup corona to just render render masks with very few passes (maybe one) ? The edges are fuzzy if i set Corona passes too low.

Congratulations Ondra and RL Team ! This is an incredible landmark and a LOT of work done fast ! The 1.5 looks amazing ! :) As usual, BETTER and FASTER. :)

Just tried a empty scene, installed 1.4, max 2015, added Render Element ZBuffer, and crash.

I don't know if it's a Bug. I opened a scene from 1.4 in Max 2015, and everytime i try to add Corona's ZBuffer element, i had a crash. :(

I am starting to that my problem hasn´t relation to Corona 1.4... OR it´s some deadly combination from hell...

   I got the same project i can´t render a single frame here without having memory problems and it renders totally ok on Rebus Farm... I´ve sent it to a friend and it rendered ok too...

   I don´t know what to test more.... Tried the windows file testing...Files seems ok...
     
     I even reinstalled Max 2016 and reinstaled it with Sp3 and Ext1... Same problem. Maybe my Windows10 is doomed. I will start to uninstall other programs and start a try and error test.. ;)

Recently i need to mix two shaders using FallOf Shadow Light.

   I know that this means to "tweak reality" on a non-realistic way... FallOf Shadow/light saves the day at this point, but i know it´s not something we could expect from Photorealistic engines.

   Ops. Another case. Of Crashes. I am experiencing a lot of crashes on my last 2 projects too. I can´t say it´s corona´s fault or sundenly my machine has a problem. I will follow the sugestions here to test everything...

     The config is :
       I7 2700k - 32Gb - Windows 10 (too) - Corona 1.4 - Max 2016 Sp3
         Sometimes the render goes ok, sometimes it start the parsing, and when building Acc structure, i got 30%-60% of the Ram used and Receive a windows Alert saying "Memory Low". Sometimes i don´t even receive the Alert, the screen Goes Black, and the machine Locks. And sometime, it Locks and... Boot itself... :(

       I will try the Prime95 suggestion.

Just to feedback about that "Memory problem". Using 1.4 here (I saw a Ondra ChangeLog saying that Memory Problems on Scenes with lots of objets are adressed on 1.5...But i can´t use it yet, because this scene will be rendered on RebusFarm...)

    I had this memory problem on a projetct last month, and thought it could be a Scene problem... But now i am working on another project, and experiencing the same "memory low" problems... I can only use max alone running, if i open any other program i had a message and a crash (Many times windows just show the low mem message and freeze forever while rendering).
     I am using Corona for more than 4 years on the same machine, and never had memory issues...

     I really hope this is issue adressed by Ondra on 1.5 Daily builds. I will test it asap. :)

   I´ve made 3 buttons on my tool bar to do :

  gc()
  FreebitmapMen
   FreeUndos

    I keed pressing them all the time to keeps my Max up while shading that scene. The job is over and the problema seems to be minimized with those commands...And i am not leaving Nothing in RAM, removing everything but Max... That´s not cool way to work, but it sort of worked. The crashes seems to happen less often... But i never experience problems like that with corona before. I hope it´s my a problem with my scene or a real memory bug...
   


Memtest86 says everything is OK, and Mental ray is happy to go over 30GB without errors.
So, for now, until others submit their problematic scenes and minidumps I'll just have to wait and be careful not to go over 70% of RAM.
But it looks like this is something scene related. I have this problem with scatter and with displacement in one scene, where it crashes when it gets to cca 70%, but in another scene it looks like it would continue to do displacement calculations if I had more memory, crashes somewhere around 25 - 26 gigs and it looks like that next spike in memory consumption would go over my 32GB. So, not really sure how to report this.

What about the "lens Effects" from Maxwell. That stuff adds amazing atmosphere to the renders.

   I am from the VFX "market".I know a humongous number of talented artists that don´t move to Corona just because it lacks a SkinShader and a proper HairShader.
 
   The people that votes on those pools are NOT that people. Because they even started to use Corona... So, my vote if for those features... Even if it has less votes, it can potentially opens a NEW world of artists starting to use Corona, and talking how good it is, and doing awesome stuff around the globe, showing his works and carrying on the Corona Seal with it...

   This is much more than 2 features for Corona. At least from my perspective. ArchViz is already well served. There´s a lot to improve, but Corona is already at the point to be everywhere when you talk about ArchViz. It already broke the Vray hegemony on foruns and famous archviz sites... People that do ARchViz already look at Corona with good eyes...

    So, it´s my 2Cents about this. Bring more tools for Character and VFX worlds, just a few more, will bring much more $$$ and good propaganda to Corona.

Don't over estimate the Skin shader.
For Corona, thanks to this "little" shader, will open a new, complete World!

Material preset = 100 votes
Skin shader = 47

Mmm...  As an arch-viz  artist, I never used SSS, or SSS2 or Skin Shader
But I understand how cool is for a character artist to have a shader like this
Material preset will have less impact on Corona popularity.

More users (not onl arch-viz) = more money = more programmers and coders for everybody  ^____^

I am writing another script to create the RenderElements for Corona Automatically, but it´s nore production ready yet. ;(
