[Max] Resolved Bugs / output autosave, warning sign.
« on: 2014-11-26, 03:34:09 »
dear all,
when i input the false file address, corona should be immediately warn me that the file address i entered is cannot be found when i hit the render button.
it is needed when some users unconsciously get their special autosave folder moved/deleted.
and it will help too because sometimes i need to work some scenes on my another computer / laptop.

thanx :-D

look at the models detail & the shader ... wow! you're so talented man!!
tweak the lighting and i believe that your works will be used for corona showcase.

i have read that thread...hmm... a little bit disapointed. it's ok, understood.
but if it is possible, i hope maybe there is some advanced users that has more time to write that script. but this is just for minor corona users that need this feature (so sorry, i can't write a script at all)
thanx romullus.

Dear all,
according to these threads https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php/topic,5902.msg40511.html#msg40511 & https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php/topic,253.0.html,
is it possible to include the camera name on autosave feature when autorename is enabled? maybe including filename, date, hour, & passes reached is pretty useful too.
autorename: "file name"-"camera name"-"passes reached"-"date,hour"
ex: if my main view is camera4, so the file's name is
"scene1-camera4-finish(14-11-21,15.30).exr"
"scene1-camera4-100passes(14-11-21,15.30).exr"
this is very useful too to do research for some development, right? or if we want a deeper research, we can add log file like vray did (but it is better to be disabled by default, cuz it's useless for normal users).

i think it would be an unique advantage for corona renderer, reminding there's no other renderer have this detail.

thanx! :-D

Off-Topic / Re: Corona Popularity - Introduce your self
« on: 2014-11-21, 07:58:47 »
greetings, my name is Christa Noel.
where did i find corona?? ... i don't remember at all... seriously, i can't find it in my head.
i'm a newbie 3d generalist. basicaly i'm an engineer at a wooden furniture manufacturer since 2005. but after a couple years many design project was handled by me. then i became an interior designer & 3d generalist freelancer at 2012.
last year, when i first time download corona, it is v6. so promising.. so natural.. so adorable...
then, the second days since i played with it, i created 2 still images for commercial.
without thinking any other consideration i decided to switched to corona. vray was trashed away (never use it again till now, even once time. i'm so sorry vray)
now i work for another furniture manufacturer as 3d generalist on design development division, but outside job (3D visualization) is available too. 90% of my job is product shot.

Floating viewports is under review in Uservoice - http://3dsmaxfeedback.autodesk.com/forums/80695-general-feature-requests/suggestions/1490189-viewport-tear-off Let's hope it makes it in the new 2016 release of Max (fingers crossed!!!).
wow, it'd be very helpful.. cool! now let us all pray for this!

[Max] General Discussion / Re: an idea for rendersetup.

I already suggested this... to synchronize file names.
I think it was rejected.
dammit-Maxwell render does this.

ps.
As for moms ..try shutting off the oven when she has something cooking, see how she likes it.
thanx for your response cloneops
rejected?? was it??? why??? it's simple thing but pretty important for me .. or .. for many users i guess.
hahahaha..! i think i'd be better to see how a sleeping tiger will likes me when i bite it's tail rather than disturb her when she's doing something.

This should be moved to bug reports. It's not feature request.

When UI parameters do not freeze properly, then it's simply a bug ;)

thanx rawalanche,
if there any problem similar with this .. i will post it to bug report board

First of all, if you have a suggestion, you should declare it in Feature request section. Devs don't have time to browse entire forum, so your ideas may be unheard. And post one request/suggestion per topic, please.

As for your ideas. IMHO:
Override scene camera/ cameraMod settings shouldn't grey out  photographic exposure controls, but Use photographic exposure checkbox in Exposure and color mapping - should.
Output autosave, Render stamp - i don't see a point in greying it out.
Distributed rendering - have no idea, i do not use it.
automatic name/path may be a good idea, but if it was rejected, well...

thanx so much romullus,
em.. , do i have to repost this to feature-request / bug-report board? or wait for moderator/administrator moves this topic to somewhere it should be?
i think autosave & DR should be greyed/freezed when we unchecked it, so that, there will be no other users do mistake like i did.
it is easier to see an area greyed/freezed rather than to see a little box checked/uncheked, right..?
for renderstamp, it doesnt matter to be greyed or not.. because it can be redo / edit eventhough render job is finished.

dear, somebody...
again, apologize if this suggestion is already reported.
this would be great if "autorename" is added on the autosave. the autosave file's name & folder will be based on the max file name.
ex: - max scene name: scene1.max = autosave name: scene1-during.exr  ,  scene2-end.exr  ,  both files is created on where scene1.max were placed.

[Max] General Discussion / an idea for rendersetup.
« on: 2014-11-14, 03:32:45 »
dear all & Keymaster,
first, i searched in forum about this thing , but i didnt find any similar with it. so, i'm sorry if it was reported
here we go , i have an idea for rendersetup input system.
on rendersetup>corona settings>global camera settings>depth of field, if we uncheck the "enable", all the features inside are changed to be gray shaded and all the parameter are uneditable. it works correctly on "motionblur"
but on the "override scene camera/ cameraMod settings", "Distributed Rendering", "Output Autosave", "use photographic exposure", "Render Stamp", etc .. it doesn't happened when the "enabled" button checked / uncheked.
yesterday, i wanted to render some project and leave it run through along night till morning. i did input the filename/ adresses for autosave feature.. but damn unfortunately i forgot to checked the "enable autosave",
but the real disaster maker is: in the morning my mom came in to my bedroom and saw that my computer still running so she decided to turn off the computer by plug off the power cable (she never know how to use mouse and keyboard to shutdown the computer, eventhough i teach her thousands times ... she will never know).  AARRGHH!!
but anyway... it wouldnt be a problem, if the autosave is enabled.
maybe some users has passed this problem too.

thanx :-D

*correction: change the word "idea" to "suggestion" (for post title too)

[Max] I need help! / Re: Using Albeldo?
« on: 2014-11-10, 10:40:43 »
Many thanx before for all of your responses guys, i really appreciate it.

but... 180 is the maximum recommended white value? I always though it was 242, because 180 is more grey than white...

What is correct and why?
Cheers!
juang3D, here is your answer: about albedo https://corona-renderer.com/wiki/performance_debugging, http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Albedo

, which explain that maximum value for white is 180,180,180..?

Anyway, one thing to keep in mind that this above is linear value (because 3dsMax color picker is) and other color pickers (like the Pantone website) are in gamma space 2.2(mostly sRGB for simplicity),
so first you have to convert that.
I am not sure if Corona is able to read "VrayColorMap" which can specify gamma space so you can input both linear and sRGB values and also convert them.
yesterday i tried VrayColor.. and Yes Juraj, Corona is able to read VrayColorMap, thats help me a lot (i didnt know it before).
i have multiply/scale the color value to 0.8.. it is what i have done for my projects following the advise from headoff, thankyou verymuch headoff.

I think it doesn't really matter that much if you don't want to be super-physically-correct. If it turns out too dark or too bright you can always change exposure. Just don't use values too close to 255 because it will significantly increase render time.
for this case, i think it is really matter. i need to keep both color value ratio. but anyway .. case is fixed & closed. thanx.

it would be easy to understand for readers to help if you uploaded some image about your problem.
but anyway, your problem has been fixed. cheers! :-D
