I decided to play at large with corona i'll post here to avoid the topic overflow.
-
How many computers in the farm?
-
This video was rendered in one pc overnigth.
Still trying to put it on the farm, maybe next monday is the day.
Maybe 20 pc if i'm lucky. Can't wait
-
My corona wip's from today:
Does anyone knows a good cheap way of doing a waterfall?...
-
Dirty and cheap way would be using particles (and converting them to mesh as Corona doesn't support them yet).
-
I must leave it like this.
Actually i came up with a crafty way of doing the waterfall and came up veeeery cheap to render, and looks acceptable for my needs. And at a 1 min per frame 1280x720 is quite remarcable.
I must say corona still amazes me.
-
Pretty cool. It's a texture, right? Did you generate it?
-
Just grab some random waterfall video from vimeo, cropped in after effects. Then extract the white color leaving just the waterfall.
Exported as png secuence with alpha channel.
In a plane sligthly modified to the shape of the waterfall mapped the png secuence in a corona ligth material with opacity. WORKS LIKE A CHARM!!!!.
Check this preview:
*UPDATED*
DISCLAIMER: ABSOLUTELY no post pro where harm doing this preview... just Corona raw crude awesomeness.
-
Well, this is really cheap. :)
-
Is just i tried the realflow approach but that is quite expensive. And the meshing are not satisfactory at all. Aside the foam and bubbles /splashes needed for realism could'nt find a way of rendering. It seems that Krakatoa does that... but... loooong shot for something that simple... so i fake the shit out of it.
-
Oh crap... vimeo let me upload just one HD video a week.
Here is a better resolution.
Find the mistakes that i could not have the time to correct!. XD.

Long time no posting. (but reading every single post... XD).
Testing the new matte material from V7. Pretty amazing.
-
Corona A7 Shadow catcher.
-
Playing with CoronaVolumeMtl this time.
Tons of fun.
Some .bin Realflow Sequences meshed with Frost.
-
Some bug hunting.
Trying to achieve a good iridiscent shader.
Not there yet.
-
Now is the time for feathers... a cat in feathers... highly reflective feathers.
Like hummingbird feathers...
-
Cool model for testing but I think you waster its potential. The feathers could produce some really interesting results, how about adding translucency to them? The rendering seems overexposed, burned, but there are no visible shadows, no background, just the model floating in space.
-
Well... after tons of trial and error finally i got one that makes me proud enough.
I have been working in this for several days by now, and i think i nailed one kind of feathers.
Thanks maru for the feedback i think i could not have done this without your advice.
I let the scene here... someone maybe has the time to better improve this. Or at least make a pillow figth XD.
Greetings from Chile.
-
Another a little more complicated feather stuff.
It's kinda tricky to make good looking feathers.
It looks good from close range or far range but i could not achieve both.
Must keep testing.
Corona is fun to work with!
-
I decided to put feathers test aside until i found or came up with a better way of locating feathers over a surface than forest pack.
Today is time for a little fun.
This time working on a common Chilean beverage called "mote con huesillos", we drink that a lot on summertime.
Corona is awesome.
As usual... and as exercise, no more than 10 minutes of rendering time.
-
borisquezadaa, about positioning feathers, have you tried standard hair&fur?
It works pretty well IMO.
I have a tutorial about exactly this if you want it I'll post the link here.
Cheers
-
Hi juang3d... post the tutorial link so i'll have a look!.
Its possible to affect scale as well as orientation with hair and fur?. If so, maybe i can use it cause rigth now i'm a little stuck.
-
A little better version... i'm very tempted to try caustics and dispersion. Who knows, maybe i have the patience required to wait for it.
-
Hi. Very nice renders. I think the camera angle from the first one is better, as well the spoon. But very nice droplets on the second pic.
Regards
-
Here you have, it is an old tutorial from my old blog, but since Hair&Fur remeains unchanged, it is still valid :)

Cheers!

Many thanks for the link.... i'll have a look.
-
Time for some really sexy caustics.
+1 for a way to isolate just those to compose later!!!...
I compared them with the real glass and as usual, corona kicks all kind of asses. (minor firefly cleaning required).
And i came up with a workflow to produce this in a comfortable way.

Yep, what's that ? I suck at caustics and can never get them to look good in pool.
-
Sorry for the delay... i was trying to put all the ideas togheter.
I made a humble tutorial for quick reference.
you can find it here:
https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php/topic,5431.0.html (https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php/topic,5431.0.html)
an hell!... improve it if you have the time. I suck at tutorials but i give my best.
Greetings from Chile.
-
Much appreciated
-
Everything is better with caustics. XD.
-
We all know that :p we all also know how much the cost for caustics normally is.... for pools, def worth it though!
-
I think Corona is great for a product shot so why not try?...
I call this masterpiece "Biped party hard". XD.
As always is ridiculously easy to get this quality in no time. (As always never more than 10 minutes per render, cause hey!... life is short!).
-
Some sexy diamond ring with dispersion caustics.
Half hour of fun. Free model. Free hdri.
Corona even now at this stages is great!.
-
great tests ...
i'm from chile too :)
are you working as a freelance or in a company? ...have you made any comercial jobs with corona already?
sorry for the offtopic ..but you are the first chilean guy I know in this forum xd
saludos!
-
Hi ylucic... i work as both. In a company and as freelancer when the job arrives. and yes, i do all my work as freelancer and in the company using Corona since i first meet.
Its a really great render engine!.
-
Loong time no posting. Too much work.
This one about corona logo change. Cutie mark included. ;D
-
The calm between jobs.
I think there is too much sternum in this renders...
-
Today's playtime.

One of those ideas that pops up when one really needs to hit the bed. Tomorrow at work... dozens of coffe.
Im trying to imitate the cloth over marble statues. This one i really like!. No architectural client, just freedom to do what i like.

I screwed up with bump in wood and the text... but hey!... i'm improving.
Merry christmas to everyone!.

Great stuff!
A mountain of skulls is always fun!
;-)
I really like those fluid sims...slick.

Blood test using sss from daily builds. First time user.
Some post to add motion blur, just to find out that Corona can do motionblur from mesh secuences in a way (related to the Shutter speed). Duh!.
Attached are the settings used for blood in Realflow (you can always play and improve).
And off course the material used for blood in a .mat file 3ds Max 2014. (It work with daylies i'm afraid cause use some sss magic).
YOURS TO PLAY AND IMPROVE
Later i'm gonna find how to upload to Corona material library.
I dont do hyper high resolution of my random stuff sorry. They are just tests.
-
This time... JELLYFISH!
Next time... glowing jellyfish. XD. maybe
Now that i look is the perfect material for an old kind of lamp.
-
Today an idea to generate heat haze from arbitrary sources that came up after looking some post pro made at Jeff Patton renders made by others.
Looks promising, attached a small animation of the effect. Needs a specific setting in material and geometry.
Wish there is a way to enter a value like 0,999999999 in the glossines slot. XD.
-
Hi Boris,
I'm not sure but I seen somewhere an After Effects plugin for make that "heat haze" effect. And I think to simulating in PS it's not a big deal, but I'd never tried... :)
-
Really?... lets check that. Thanks!.
-
Had you simulated gas itself in RF?
-
Yes i did a simulation.
But the trick was in the mesh. Is necesary to untick "visible to reflections/refraction" in properties or you will en with some nasty dark edges.
Also the material... it would be nice to put IORs of 1,0001 like reality or glossiness of 0,99999 but we get only 3 decimals. XD.
Atached scene with setup and one frame meshed. (The mesh sequence is way to big to put it here).
-

You can set the spinner precision up to 10 decimals in the max preferences ;)
-
What?... Damn!... i totally forgot about that. Thanks!.
-
Long time no posting... so much 3d unrelated work.
Clouds...
-
First post since corona went comercial.
Now using good old free versiĆ³n.
A small splash...
-
Waterfall I loved it! It got very good result.
-
Just testing rock material for fun when suddenly...
-
Cool. As it happened, i'm listening Andy Weir's "The Martian" audiobook at the moment, so it's nice to see rather familiar landscape :]
-
An idea to fill my insomnia.
-
A glass shard. One of many.
-
Another... and his shoped version
