Every -other Max file I open and render does this: CPU utilization, a double digit loss in speed, IR vs. VFB+

  • Is the rendering actually going slower?
  • Is there a difference if you turn off all the color correction?

Yes, passes take disproportionately longer for a similar resolution.
No difference if color correction is on or off.

Has anyone experienced a similar difference?

I'm not sure if there is a solution, and I'll just have to workaround.

113 views and one response?

Is there additional information needed ?
Am I not phrasing this correctly?

Seems to me it is a Corona Render Software issue.

Why, because out of those 113 you think everyone uses VFB+ ?

I for example didn't encounter this issue, and my PC renders 100perc. using VFB+ instead of Corona framebuffer but I will try some comparisons to get some passes per minute info.

They should be using VFB+, it's a great tool :] But unlikely that the VFB+ script would affect the performance. The same condition existed prior to installing VFB+

I do have Max files that render @ 100%, but other Max files render @ ~62% . IR always 100%

It would be great if you could supply such scene for Corona team to investigate, maybe there's some bugs hidden.

^Thanks, I'll make 2 scenes, 1 that has both FB/VFB render @ 100%, and a 2nd that is ~62%FB/100%VFB.

Today I reinstalled MAX2016 and RC6, same results
IT friend @ work thinks it may call for a windows reinstall.

Wait, what? I've lost track of what you're trying to claim. Your initial post showed a comparison of the same scene rendered using corona VFB vs. VFB+. Which is it?

But why did you label this as VFB+ if it happened before installing VFB+ ?

Basically, what does it have to do with VFB+ at all ?

Didn't you mean IR vs Normal rendering ? IR just uses Corona framebuffer always right now. Simply switch your framebuffer to Corona back and do the comparison again.

Like in this thread of yours with same issue:

https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php/topic,9886.msg63178.html#msg63178

And send such scene to Maru/Ondra.

Solved? How? Does all your scenes renders at 100% now? If not, you should take all available actions to do so, like reporting a bug and providing enough material for devs to investigate problem and fix a bug in case there is such. To render scenes at half a power is simply not acceptable.
