3ds Max crashes almost every time I try to create new coronaMtl or assign it to smth. Or assign corona sky to the environment. And so on.

It's 3ds Max 2014 and Corona Alpha v5

I have:
Intel i7 950 @ 3.07GHz
AMD Radeon HD 5800
12Gb RAM

There must be something wrong with either your PC, or your 3dsmax installation, since it does not happen to anybody else. Other renderers work fine?

I agree! Alpha 5 very stable! You have a hardware problem..check it. Maybe overclocking?
Corona - the best rendering solution!

I would go in order: try other renderers -> try general stability tests (prime, superpi) -> try reinstalling 3dsmax
