Hi, I have a crash using the IPR in Cinema 4D. The first render works but after starting the IPR the second time C4D crashes with the Error Corona Release dll
I did some tests and it looks like it is the round corner or the displacement that gives this error.

Unfortunately, I can't send the Bugrapport because the file I'm working on is under a restriction.

If someone had this crash and sent a Bug report and got an answer it would be great if the answer could be shared if possible. Big Thanks

thanks for the answer. I will stay with the Gamma 2.2 workflow until the next updates of the Corona Render

OK, I get it.

If the DCC manages the Colorspace OCIO, don't use the Corona ACES OT. If you like to use the Corona ACES OT, which is on by default leave the DCC at Linear Colorspace

How do you work these days, With OCIO managed by DCC or with the Linear Colorspace and Corona ACES OT?

Ok Maybe Im wrong but example:

In Cinema 4D and Redshift, when I turn on the Color Management OCIO in C4D, the Redshift OCIO turns off. When C4D is set to Linear, the Redshift Color OCIO turns on. all good

C4D/ and or Max and Corona Render, the Question from above stay. I think that Corona Render doesn't support ACES Color Space native. Is that correct? Is Corona Render still Gama 2.2 Linear Space?

Hi, maybe this question has been posted already but I didn't find an answer. Now ACES Colorspace is the defauld  on in 3DSMax 2025 So when I use Corona Render and the ACES OT is on by default as well, should I still use the Color settings from Max to Standard Gama 2,2, or can I turn the 3DSMax ACES Colorspace on ? what will happen? Will the ACES colorspace applied twice? Thanks for making it clear

The easy way is to render the object as PNG with Alpha and the AO (Shadow) as PNG. So you have the object and the Shadow separate; you can combine them in the comp needed.

General CG Discussion / Chaos Cosmos Assets in other DCC
« on: 2024-01-13, 14:18:48 »
Sorry, I also posted this in the wrong forum part. now here again in the right Forum.

Hi, I have the Chaos Corona Premium Subscription. I'm a Generalist, and I also use different DCCs. Like Houdini. Now, is it allowed to use the Chaos Cosmos Assets and Materials in other DCCs via FBX or as USD?

Thanks for clearing it out

best Salvatore

Here is how I see it:

until now €418.80/year
new €454.80/year

difference €36/year divided by 12 Months is €3 more per yearly Subscription

The monthly subscription, yes is a huge increase

The year before that was £300 for a license + 3 render nodes.

If you want the same after February (you had to choose Premium to keep your floating licence) - that 1 license + 3 render nodes will now cost you £396 + £95 + £95 + £95 = £681

Percentage increase between £300 and £681 is 127%

I'm being conservative there too, I have no idea if the quoted prices include VAT.  And The £300 figure for the previous year was based on what I was paying for the monthly rolling sub.  It would have been even cheaper had I paid annually

I see; yes, the Rendernode costs are way too high. We have the same cost issue in our Company. We have a Renderfarm of 6 PC. At home, I don't use Rendernodes, so only the Corona Render costs affect me.

On the other hand, Corona Subscription costs are the same if Hobby or company, This is not the case in other packages

My first impression was emotional, and I saw the new prizes. I stopped my subscription. After some days, I calmed down and watched it with fresh eyes. I looked at it differently and activated my subscription again.

The increase is just a few dollars using the yearly subscription, and a library of 1000's ready-to-use assets and materials are also included. Alone this Asset LIB that grows constantly is worth the extra costs.
On the other hand, Corona Renderer in Cinema 4D and Max is the most stable combination compared to other Renderers. In conclusion, I will stay with Chaos Corona.

[Max] I need help! / Re: Corona 11 ACES Workflow
« on: 2023-12-17, 14:25:35 »
I don't get all these ACES settings; ACES Settings are in the 3D Software, and ACES Settings are in the renderer and don't communicate. I still use the standard Gamma correction Colorspace in 3DSmax and render out all with Corona render and save as TIFF 16bit, as I did in the last few years; that works perfectly.

[C4D] I need help! / C4D OCIO and Corona Render ACES OT
« on: 2023-01-15, 10:54:14 »
Hello everyone, I have an ACES question. New in Cinema 4D 2023 is the Open Color IO Standard and it works as it should with Redshift. But when I render with Chaos Corona, the following question comes up: In Corona Tone mapping there is the ACES OT function. My question now is if C4D and the whole scene has  set up with OpenColor IO , can I still the Corona ACES OT or will it then be added the ACES correction twice? Does the Corona ACES OT only work in the "old" sRGB linear workflow? If so, is the Corona ACES OT useless when use the new C4D 2023 with integrated OCIO. I'm grateful for any help.

Hi

I work with 3DSMax at work. in 3DSMax there is a Multi/Sub node. Is it possible to make that node also in Cinema 4D. So the Muli/Sub node is linked to the selection tag ( Polygon selection)

That would be great
