Project for a 'Photoreal Rendering' unit as part of our Masters of Architecture course.

House designed by myself.

Trying to figure out the best way to achieve the beach environment.. at the moment it's all HDRi..

Exterior shots will require modelling of the ground plane no doubt. Any suggestions welcome!

Will post progress as it progresses..

You could try modeling both the beach and the sea. I would start with a simple plane for the beach, and then just sculpt it with ribbon tools. Some grass can be scattered. As for the sea, I would start by creating a circle (yes, a circle!), then converting it to poly, and then displacement/bump.

You can also take a look at Ludvik's dune tutorial:

In most cases interior shots can hugely benefit from ground plane as well, even if it's not visible directly. Light bounced from the ground and then entered the room, can dramatically change look and mood of picture.

Thanks for the tips!

There is a ground plane hidden from camera for that extra light bounce.

Still with HDRi as the backplate.. going to test some ocean and beach in a new scene.

part of the assignment is to try and replicate the style of an architecture photographer..

Im attempting Toby Scott (from Brisbane Aus) ... http://tobyscott.com.au/

Photo ref and attempted WIP match interior here..

used PS to sample wall brightness and colour values to try and replicate accurately.

Does camera sensor size effect rendered DOF in Corona?

Can extract metadata and Toby uses a Phase One IQ160 which has a 53.9 x 40.4 mm sensor.. should i be matching this on my camera in Max?

12 minute 1080p res render.

Going to be animating a camera pan.

Not sure of the best way yo do this with minimal flickering (PT +PT?).

a quick way to mask a very noisy animation... add more film grain over the top in AE
