Answer:
"I'm afraid it's not possible. GetRenderMesh is required not only for Point-cloud, but also for other processes.
Some time ago we tried a similar workaround, but we had to revert it in a patch, because several side effects."

Can you fix this issue? Vray proxies with Forest pack open 20-30 times faster.

Hi,

Forest pack + Corona proxy are painfully slow to open a saved scene. In Vray it is jusy blazing fast.
From Itoo forum:

"unfortunately at the moment, there is a known limitation whereby Forest Pack needs to load the whole mesh from a proxy in Corona.

This is done using a specific Max function (GetRenderMesh), which is very slow with Corona proxies. Although the mesh is not needed for the render itself (because proxies are rendered directly by the engine), it's necessary for other processes (i.e. to build the Forest point-cloud). For example, with V-Ray proxies 'GetRenderMesh' is very fast, because it returns the simplified mesh used for viewport. Instead, Corona computes and returns the full mesh stored in the proxy, and this process takes a lot of time."

Can you fix it?

Layers in composite map are long rectangles instead of squares in max 2018 corona 1.7. This problem does not appear in max 2016 corona 1.7.
So right now i can't see which map is which.

Hello!

We have the same problem. Win 7 sp1 + max 2018.3 + corona 1.7. i7-6600k, i7-4700k, i7-3930k, i7-820. While rendering with Distributed Rendering the light somehow interferes with CMasking_ID, CGeometry_NormalsShading, and few more. The same scene rendered using backburner without Corona DR renders just fine on each rendering node. This problem makes corona 1.7 useless.

After checking EXRs that are effect of "[DEBUG] Save sent images" i can tell that they are fine. No interference is visible.

It is not just that - there is also a visible increased noise in render passes along those interference lines. Interior rendering with 300 passes has bands of slight noise. The rest is just clean.

Hello,
I really like 1.6 but there is some problems with rendering channels, vfb and image editor.
Win 7, 3ds max 2016, Corona 1.6

1. When i check to save render output or CXR it saves one big cxr that i want AND all channels in smalles cxr, that are already included in big cxr. This is uselss doubling disk space. Normal EXR does not save channels added to main output.
2. When sharpen/blurring is on and you zoom in (3ds max, corona VFB) so you cant see all image borders there is a glitch. All cgeometry, cmask and alpha channels move down and right like 5 pixels when sharpen in on. It saves normally, but in VFB is not aligned with other channels. Fixed
3. When i save CXR and open it in image editor there is no alpha channel, unless i specificly add it. Fixed
4. Image editor claims that in beauty pass some pixels have empty alpha, so there is somewhere an alpha channel, but png is all opaque, and exr have alpha all white. Fixed
5. In image editor the REST channel (from lightmix) is available, but this channel is not available in 3ds max Corona VFB.
6. Image editor should be able to save in 16 bit tiffs. Logged on mantis https://corona-renderer.com/bugs/view.php?id=2703

When a LightMtl has opacity, then this light is in the Enviroment Lightselect.
Please open attached scene, start Interactive Rendering, and turn on and off opacity in "SWITCH OPACITY PLEASE" material.

Also when the light or light material does not cast shadow it is added to environment light select channel. Also i can not exclude object with light material from specific light, so it cast shadows....

Hello,

When a Corona Light has unchecked "occlude other lights" it is visible in lightselect channel for environment only. When it lights up an object with translucency it gets weird, because it does not match separate channel with only this light. Like only secondary bounce ends up in environment channel.

Thank you for your input.
Unfortunately cexr format is usless with backburner. I get error when server (afrter completeing the render) tries to save each channel in cexr format. It tries to save it with *.cex extension  and it all dies, render restarts.

So, this is another reason why i suggest to move back autosave box out of the system settings.
Placing it in the system settings annoys, because it is easy to forget that it was on in previous scene and just overwrite it with useless test. I have just overwritten last jobs autosave with two teapots, while making this test.
Having it with save vfb/ resume from file /resume render  just makes more sense.

Well, it was working already in previous versions. I propose to change it back in the next release. I see no reason use in this change. Maybe only one thing is that there is one line less in UI. It's not a good bargain.

Autosaved corona exr lets me to resume render. Does this beauty pass contains all of the channels?
If i set exr save parameters in beauty pass channel and then change save path it will mess with the beauty settings.

Autosave function saves incrementally. It is nice when something goes wrong. Having just one save at the end does not count as autosave.

Hello,

Since Corona 1.5 the autosave exr is placed in system settings. Previously it was connected with the scene, now it is connected with 3ds max settings on specific machine. So when i render with backburner i can't save corona raw exr for further tweaks or resuming render. I can't open 3ds max on rendering nodes, it will start trial and make them usless as render nodes.

Please move the autosave exr from system settings back to general settings.
