Guys, guys!

relax :D
collaboration is strong - and can be stronger than (played) competition.
Corona came up one days, yes - and v-ray changed as well since then, also became easier to use.

But does that mean v-ray stagnated during the years they left competition behind and there wa no corona?
NO! They constantly improved as well.

We are using both v-ray and corona in xoio parallely depending on the project and what makes most sense.
Honestly the vision of compatibilty seems very intriguing :D

Don't let the bad ADSK example how it should not work let yourself think it is the right way and give Chaos Group and Render Legion
a chance to show how it should and can work.

Collaboration can set forces free which are bound when "fighting" the other guys.
Only positive things can breed positive outcome.

Vlado and Ondra both are fascinating characters who would not have made it that far without a big chunk of intrinsic motivation.
Those is what fascinates and also makes their products as strong and great as they are.

Be fair, guys.
I hear words like "killing", "destroying", "terminating".
Is that what it is about? We are here to CREATE  - not to destruct.

Love
Lasse

Nice topic and great renders...

Yes guys, Blender is best 3d software believe me and with Corona, it is great...

You may want to see our test renders for new Corona for Blender...  ;)

:D where can we see it?

of course: because this is part of corona it is also possible to render the stereoscopic (VR) panos with corona+blender.

check this little test http://bit.ly/2nAOThv

Victor and burnin

4.1.4 fixes the failing to export, burnin thanks for providing the .blend files that reproduce the problem it helps immensely!

you are awesome!

thanks a lot :D

haha, thank you :D
actually the cycles renders are very grainy, you just don't see it because theyre scaled down to 40% :D
they ran 10000 samples on my machine which i put 2x 1070 in for this experiment. took as long as the corona renders (5k 8hrs).
but still very grainy. I tried a lot of things they are suggesting on the blender forums; like clamping etc.. but well - the grain persists.
I suspect the fact cycles is missing all kind of lightcaching, but for that i am not technical enough - so it is just vague speculation.

yes, maybe i walk over to the blenderartist forum :D curious

Hey Victor,

yes it's me ;)

well - try the latest version of the exporter 4.10 - Glen did make a great update so it really exports and renders fast.

How to do it: there is a tutorial by BlenderGuru which shows best way how to scatter stuff:

it and then you have to check the "export hair" checker i think in order to make it render the trees.
keep me in the loop how that worked out :)

yes, I am very excited to get into the blender/corona combo deeper. it is very cool how powerful blender became, not to mention the mighty C :D

wrote an article on our xoio-air.de on that topic today, if interested ;)

best regards

Great study & article, thanks!
I am also long time max user, but I experimenting with Blender and I've done some projects  in Blender- products renderings/animations.
If you learn Blender shortucts - the UI is comfortable. It's just different than max:)

thanks :D

well - yes this is very true. it is just different. i don't know how you experienced it: but for me it took very short time to adapt. commands are "kind of" logical and very easy to memorize, once you understood the principles :)

Hey Everyone,

as a long time max-user I made some tests in order to get deeper into the blender-corona combo. for several reasons, main reason is to be a bit more flexible dcc wise... *ahem*

For those more interested I wrote small blog on how to get started (nothing special, just compiled some ressources).
But at least I wrote some conclusion - if there is something conclusive to to say yet :D

http://xoio-air.de/2017/blender-corona-renderer/

Many thanks to blanchg and ohsnapitsjoel for that great work on the exporter!

best wishes

Hey Glen!
just noticed now the export of instances does not work anymore - the exporter adds a number to the asigned obj file.
like box.obj
and then box.001.obj
..
send a bug report to the bitbucket with screenshot comparing 4.05 and 4.1 :D
best regards

well, it depends: yes- the scene is "exported" to the standalone. but you can be very flexible with this. you export the geometry once and then only "overwrite" e.g. the things you are changing. if you only change material, the geo does not need to be exported - so it becomes very quick to start (there is an "overwrite geometry" checker. you can also pick which one you want to overwrite "selected only" for example makes sense when you changed UV mapping on a certain object)
of course you are getting rid of the interactive mode - so it is a bit of a time travel back 2 years. but test renders worked out back then as well, no? :)
it does take a bit longer than in max to open the VFB, but for my feeling it is acceptable.

well - my journey right now also led me here for an alternative of the max. actually to be more flexible on the dcc and renderer side.

exporting the scene for me opens a lot more flexibility. you are not dependent on the max anymore, can change quickly rendersettings in the texteditor, etc.
it is different approach but it makes things also a bit easier.
