I did a short tutorial for rendering caustics with ease in corona:

[Max] I need help! / Re: Link CoronaTriplanar

Oh cool! That's something i looked for! Thanks a lot.

But is this working only with slate material editor? Any idea for compact material editor?

[Max] I need help! / Link CoronaTriplanar
« on: 2018-02-10, 16:26:08 »
Don't know if this is already been discussed but is there an option to link a CoronaTriplanar within a material? Like if you're using Diffuse Spec and Bump textures which is different but have the same coordinates...

I'm looking for a solution on this as i always pay attention to make changes severall times within an material. I think this can be handled smarter.

Thanks!

Sometimes when i render over a backround image i want to blur my rendered objects to balance with backround image. But the blur or sharpen option affects backround too. Maybe a checkbox in the corona output which can be activated to disable this. Normally i want to keep my backround image as it is.

Thanks!

[Max] Bug Reporting / blurred backround image with DoF
« on: 2018-01-25, 00:43:06 »
Hi,
i found a bug where backround images (direct vis override) get blurred dramatically when DoF is enabled. I tested this with CoronaCam and a Standard Cam.

Currently i can't use a backround image with DoF which is sad. I'm running 1.7 hotfix2

I really would love to see more space when typing decimals like 0,333.

An resolution override and lock for IR would be really great.

Hi,
since we have the switch between spherical and dome in HDR images, me and many other users would love to have the feature known in Autodesk VRED where you can animate the projection of your HDR dome. It is really easy and fast to set. Also it produces correct motion blurred reflections too.

Head over to 9m25s to see this awesome solution.

I would love to have a gizmo like geometry in my viewport where i can set an animation AND where i can also scale the projection dome. This is really handy if you have a HDR on a Road for example.

I also made some examples for you guys just to see how much better it is to have this kind of ability.

Thanks.

[Max] Bug Reporting / Re: Wrong reflections in dome mode
« on: 2017-10-27, 12:57:38 »
Experienced this problem since the implemtation of dome mode too. And yes this is also an old known bug in vray back in the days but it got fixed as kosso_olli said.

I'm running corona 1.7 and this problem is still alive.

[Max] Daily Builds / Re: Daily Builds 1.7

I started a scene in 1.6 and moved it over to 1.7 and there is definitely 100% slower noise clean up in the scene. Even the initial 5 min render in 1.6 was good enough to send to a client for a very quick check. Now it needs 20 min to get even close to that initial look. I will be looking at going back to 1.6 as soon as this job is over.

It's dissapointing compared to old builds.

Can we please have .tif (16bit) file format for CIE.
The other ones are only 8bit and somehow i get wrong gamma if i export as exr. I know there is a gamma issue in PS if you open a 32bit exr where you have to use the embedded profile to get proper result but still my images are darker compared to png or jpeg.

VrayMaterialSelect
 - for layered materials such as car paints as render element - huge need for automotive users.

Advanced CarPaintShader
 - but an updated version we know from Vray. Take a look at the latest Autodesk VRED car paint shader where you can switch between 2-coated resp. 3-coated paint. The structure and the flakes behaviour is the best we know in the industry.

VRayStochasticFlakesMtl
 - huge need for automotive users

Hack for using lights only for reflections and vice versa (diff a. spec hightlights only)
 - maybe a special clearcoat layer which can be added to any layer mtl which reacts only for specular reflections and no specular highlights.
   For automotive users this is a big restriction. You can push diffuse and spec highlights by using 3ds max stock lights but these are point lights. There is a need for plane lights.

Silly about that memory issue which remains after rendering. I just noticed that the ram usage is decreasing slowly if you leave max for a while which is also really strange.

How is the denoiser stressing ram usage here? Does the denoiser causing higher ram usage after rendering compared to the actuall render process? This could also be an indication for the crashes i get over night. I guess the rendering itself is just good, but the denoiser then leads to the crash, because more ram is needed. Correct?

@pokoy
i think this can really help but the amount of worth i have to do together with that risk to destroy the normals which is generally a problem with 3ds max with cad mesh is questionable.

@pokoy
the geometrys are definetely mesh data, no nurbs.

@ondra
Too bad! But nothing is wondering me which has autodesk in it's name...
What do you think about the idea with a small render window? Is it generally possible to do something that way?
