I Think i would have preffered that. At least then there might be tight integration and Max might get a decent node system or a good viewport!

Allegorithmic might have blown it. they had a chance at greatness, they chose money. nicely done guys

I thought I read that Allegorithmic will be part of Creative Suite, which will give many more artists access to the tool.  So it may not be that bad after all.

If there won't be an option to buy/rent substance products independently from adobe stuff, then it's a total tragedy for some (many?) artists.

Adobe and Autodesk have a monopoly over creativity and it needs addressing.
its almost impossible to have a career in this industry without paying your dues to one of them.

i found a very good alternative to adobe standard products: Affinity (https://affinity.serif.com/de/) you can substitute photoshop, indesign and illustrator with it. but yeah ur basically right.
