[Max] General Discussion / Re: Single vs DR render passes

Here is a sample of this issue. DR at higher passes numbers has double the amount of noise compared to a single render.

[Max] General Discussion / Re: Single vs DR render passes
« Last post by hrvojezg00 on Today at 09:48:07 »
Hi Tom, all nodes have the same hardware, except a dual CPU, but that one is never the master. We`ve set the sync interval to 90 sec. Everything lower messes the nodes when rendering 6k renders. Approx. each node does 1-2 passes in 90 seconds, so it`s not 20-30, which would result in a higher pass cumulative count after each sync interval. Nodes/master are separate from the day-to-day work and only render one render at a time. This is something that has been happening for a while now, and we use DR only when we are in a hurry to render 1-2 6k render due to this issue. It would be great to hear exp. for other forum members who use DR.

[C4D] I need help! / Re: Low Rays/s and general slowness
« Last post by steppes on Today at 09:14:28 »
I second that.

I also have the feeling that Corona has been getting slower. I dont know since when and I have never used a stopwatch, but the feeling exists indeed.

When rendering stills I do not care about that, but for animations I catch myself accepting higher noise levels to save time.

I remember Vrays main claim with each release was always: SPEEED! . I wish corona would speed up too.

[C4D] I need help! / Re: Corona Shadow Catcher for interior
« Last post by edoardo_explorer on Today at 07:51:56 »
Hi Jojorender,

I asked to the Corona Help Center.
They fixed my file applying SC material to floor and walls and removing it from the ceiling so it can ben considered for GI.
The problem, I think, is that there is no way to avoid overall lighting/shadowing to an entire with shadows.

Attached their test image.

I think the only way is to render the furniture without using SC and then mask them with mask ID in photoshop, and manually add shadows and reflections on the floor.
But I don't know if there is a way to export just shadows and reflections ready to use.

I thought to render the room in white and put it in multiply but, again, there will be an overall shadowing on the entire floor!

Thanks

Did you find a way to do it? If so, please share.
Not sure if there is a “right” way to do it, but I also roughly build the room and apply SC mat.
For lighting I use, basically the extreme old skool way of lighting a room - area light in front of windows. Corona lights with SC illuminator ticked on.
Agreed, that can’t be the right way, but it kinda works if you have highly diffused light.
Would be cool if the corona team can offer some help.

[Max] I need help! / Fireflies!!
« Last post by momo12 on Today at 03:28:55 »
I'm dealing with a lot of fireflies in my scene in 3DMax. I did change the AA value nothing worked. High Render Quality denoising only leads to fireflies, nor Nvidia or Intel.

I use Corona Sky as Env but even with HDRI, the fireflies get more!!! I have nightmares at night about Fireflies now :)) LightMix value are not higher than 1, and when sky is only visible, it only generates the fireflies..

Treid the 15 may build.
I could open my testfile with the 15 may build, the one I send to Benjamin, in about 7 seconds on my Macbook air m1. On my Mac Studio it opened instantly with CR 11. Will try at the office how the latest build does with my Mac Studio.

I did notice that the testfile I send to Benjamin (saved project with assets) had lots of mappings missing in the exported tex folder. See attachment. On my Macbook these materials render black. I only noticed because I open this test file on my home MacBook Air. At the office on my Mac Studio I did not notice jpeg maps where missing in the export file.

Somehow Coronarender materials with a certain bitmap path don't export at saving a project with assets. That might explain as well the long opening times.

Hi there,

Thank you so much @John_Do for your suggestions. These are indeed some of the most common ways to adjust/change texture's scale.

@Konichowaa, it would be great if you could provide us with more details/info regarding what you're trying to achieve.
You can share with us some screenshots, screen recordings or even your scene project. (or at least a stripped-down version if you're not able to share your entire project).
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Have an amazing day/evening.

Hello eyelike,

Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
Is this happening with a specific Cosmos asset?
Are you storing your downloaded Cosmos assets on a network drive or locally?
Have you tried using different Cosmos Asstes?
I've tried reproducing this; however, I haven't had enough luck.
It works as expected. (see attached images)
My sample scene consists of a Cosmos asset (a green car), a simple plane (floor), a Corona Sky, and a Corona Sun.
I tried selecting the plane object and the car (Cosmos asset), but every time I tried, the result was always correct/expected.
Looking forward to hearing from you soon.

I would consider 64gb of ram minimum these days for 3D rendering.
