[Max] Resolved Bugs / Render Error while not using Corona

   Hi KeyMaster. I don´t know if it´s a bug, but strangelly i have machines on the farm returning Corona Errors but while rendering projects without using Corona (Mentalray projects submited from machines without corona installed). I have Corona on some Renderfarm machines and some of those machines didn´t support Corona Full Speed. Those machines are reporting Corona errors, but the project in question has no corona materials.

    Maybe those unsupported machines are calling corona dlls even when not rendering Corona projects and returning errors reading the DLLs at max startup causing the render to crach and return errors ? Cause they can´t support full speed Corona version?
     Deadline Manager is marking down those machines as FAILED NODES and stop the rendering completely.

    I dont know if i am explaining in a Clear way... :)

    I will try to install corona legacy on those machines and check if the errors stop or not.

    I´ve decided to put Corona to the test and decided to make my latest job as Shader/animator on Corona.I never put Beta tools for work on productions, can you imagine an ALPHA renderer ?
    But, i was using Corona without any major problems for more than a week, and so i´ve decided to take that little "risk"...  It passed almost Flawless !
   
             At some point i´ve discovered a Bug on MotionBlur, where parts of my model disapeared when moving fast from outside of camera into the scene... I will try to figure out and catch this bug sending the file to Keymaster...

            I don´t have the Final Animation yet, but i can post some Production renders. :)

           Here´s a not final render of the Shading Step to the final film. I will post the animated version as soon as possible. :)

   I just keep typing Corona, Corona, Corona. :) My Study from yesterday night. ;)

    The DOF never gets clean so i´ve forced more DOF on Post. :)

   Hey Keymaster. Do you think is a good (simple) ideia to add gamma correction button to the VFB ? Or maybe a LUT loader ? Just to check on the VFB ?
    I know it´s not priority, so, nevermind if it´s something complex to add.

Hi..

   I don´t know if it´s a bug. I am using a Multi-Sub Material and had to put 3 Glass pieces with RGB colors (RED Glass, Green Glass, Blue Glass).
    After making the Red Glass, i can´t make green Glass. It´s being Pink and Redish ... Very Strange.

    If i just set any Render Element on Corona and tried to render using Deadline i got Deadline script error on file names, or something like that. I will print the screens to proper reporting. :)

[Max] Resolved Bugs / Animating Corona Light Makes it Black

Hello There. I am trying to make a Fancy intro to my Car Animation with Corona.

   I would like to animate the light on the ceilling scaling it from the center to it´s actual size (the entire ceilling)

    As soon as i create a Width Key on Corona light the render turned black. :(

    Then i´ve tried to just animate the ON/OFF, didn´t worked.
     Tried to animate HIDE / UNHIDE, didn´t worked. :(
 
     I will try it on a Clean scene to check.

     My only solution to achieve the effect was to keep the light unmodified and ON, and animate a HUGE black BOX moving on the ceilling to block the light... Hope it works, but it´s strange that i was not able to animate Corona Light Parameters...

[Max] Resolved Bugs / MotionBlur Bug

I am rendering a animation of a little car entering the frame from right to left and away from the camera. On the first frames of the car, the object was "ripped" ? Looks like a Bug. I don´t know how to solve it. ;(

    There´s like a missing part of the object a huge part, like a horizontal rip.
    I will upload some sample images in some minutes. (I´ve deleted them and rendering again. But the error remains...)

I am rendering a scene for post production work (photoshop/after), i would like to have a deeper dynamic range,  using 16 or 32 Bits output images...

    Is if already possible ? I tried to save an image from VFB using TF 16 and it´s not holding the extra light information (checked tweaking exposure)...

     Any Tip ?

   I am planning to try Corona at renderfarm. But on this farm i have a mix of processors, i7, and QuadCores, maybe even DualCores...

    My question is... How to know the right rendertime set per frame to submit with mixed machines. 20 minutes by frame looks ok on my i7 Machine, but it will be the SAME quality on an ordinary QuadCore ???

    Right now i am just trying my animations using just one machine... But it´s painfull to wait a weekend to check a simple 4s animation. ;)
     
    Do i have to use PASS instead of time ? Why can i set Time and Pass at the same time..?! Sorry for those dumb questions. :)

   Corona REALLY needs Matte/Shadow Material. Is there any Work around for that now ?

     I am trying Corona on job, and i need to integrate a CG model over a wood table with Gloss reflection and Soft Shadows from an HDR. How can i achieve this without MatteShadow ? I was thinking about to project the plate image on the table and render a beauty, but´s not the best solution...

     The other solution was to make painfull passes like make :
     step 1 -beauty (without the table to have my object´s alpha;
     step 2 - Then everything "invisible to camera" and put a black plane on the table with reflections to try to have the ref pass
     step 3 -  And then make this plane White and render again to try to create the softshadow pass...

     Accepting any suggestions here. Tks !
     Is this the unique workflow at this stage with Corona or can i try something different ?

[Max] Resolved Bugs / Error Opening Max File

     My coworker imported a model of mine (with corona materials), and his computer doesnt have corona installed. Then he saved this scene and i tried to open the same scene on my machine (with Corona installed).

     Got a bunch of errors and the file cant be opened anymore on my machine. The same file open on the machines without corona installed...

     Very Strange. :(

     Windows7 and Max 2013.

      I am using Corona a lot this week. I would like to know from the Devs, whats the kind of thing Corona "like" and what´s it doesnt.
 
      For instance. I know that MentalRay "likes raytracing Reflections/refractions. He´s fast on it. But Mentalray doesn´t like Motion Blur and Glossy Reflactions.

      As i am pretty nOob in Corona i would like to get a Shortcut to discover what kinds of materials, shaders and situations Corona will Suffer...
 
      Coronas like Very High Polygon Objects ?
      It likes more a lot of simples objects or few COMPLEX objects ?
      Corona dont care too much about the resolution output ?

      What´s make Corona Sit down and Cry today ?! :)

       Seems like dumb questions ?

       I asking it now, because i am doind a Complex render with Corona and no, after a Week it starts to slowdown a little bit. I read a number of materials (27, not too simples materials) and a High Poly count and its making it take a longer time on the "translation" process.

Gallery / Car Rendering - Arnold "Wannabe"

I Was looking at the incredible Arnold Render Demoreel yesterday, and set a little challenge to me. To model, set and render an specific scene on the last night. (Take a look at Arnold Reference :
t=0m53s )
     Of course it´s only a study (i know the tires has not textures or bumps), but i am very happy with Corona.
      The only down side is that it was "impossible" to me to get rid of some noise on the floor near the car shadows. I don´t know why, but i went to sleep and leave the progressive running, after 6 hours the little noise stills there. Very little but annoying.
      The fault is probably mine (i didnt tweak any fancy corona settings yet. Just using defaults.

       Corona is becoming my addiction (i can´t stop rendering things EVERYDAY). :)
       BTW : The car model is not mine, i´ve just modeled the "room". :)
