outside my upper window that is not there in c4d or windows photo viewer.

In which file format did you save the rendering? This is the Alpha Channel und Gimp shows transparent Areas as a checkerboard...

There is a checkered pattern outside my upper window.twcg I saved the render as a png.

twcg i had a shade on my window and may have had a transparent node attached to it. i will try a few things and see if I can get rid of the checkered pattern. Thanks

PNG saves with alpha, which means you will have any background environment (HDRI, Corona Sky) made transparent. At present, saving from the VFB doesn't trigger any options to let you choose whether or not to save with alpha, so the best bet is either to save to JPG or other format that doesn't have alpha/transparency, or to save to PNG and replace your background in post so that it shows through using the transparency.

Also, it is very useful if you want some special material in the scene to be in the alpha mode you just need to go in material editor+advanced+Alpha mode, for example, you use always black, and that material when you save in.PNG format will be transparent. I attached the picture.
