A better approach to set up triplanar maps is needed. Its great to have it as and individual node, but most of the time our map sizes should be linked together. Will keep an eye on this one :)

Right now I'm under a heavy load of work, so might wait until it's finished before changing anything... It all seems to work fine, so I'll let it pass for now. I was a bit adventurous installing the new version :D

[Max] I need help! / Corona 3 Installation error

Hi guys,

I just tried to install the new version and I'm getting this error:

Failed to install file C:\Program Files\Autodesk\3ds Max 2014\scripts\Startup\CoronaRenderer_InitScripts.ms: Cannot open/read/write file 'C:/Program Files/Autodesk/3ds Max 2014/scripts/Startup/CoronaRenderer_InitScripts.ms'
Operation result: failed

I'm using Win 7 64-bits, 3dsmax 2014 and updating from Corona 2. I've never had any issues with previous installations. Seems like it's pointing to the Startup Scripts... does it mean it has conflicts with proxy exporter, converter, etc... scripts? Once max is started there seems to be no problem at all. I can see the new denoising options and new features, it all looks to be working fine. If any, IR seems to be quite a bit slower than before...??

Ok, I don't use Ornatrix so that's probably not the problem in this case. For now I've been avoiding either using H&F or IR together, and so far, so good... But right now I'm under a pile of work, so can't test with a different version. Will give it a try next month and see how it pays up... I'll keep an eye on the forums in case some other solution pops up.

I can confirm that this behaviour is not present in scenes without Hair and Fur... Any ideas?

I'm working and quite tight on time so couldn't do much testing on the problem, but I suspect it might be hair and fur related... A simple scene doesn't crash it. I'm uploading the full thing to dropbox, it's called "IR crash.zip"

Hi all, since I updated to 1.7 hotfix 2 I'm getting a very unstable behaviour using IR. I usually preview my scene in a separate IR window and it all works well until I stop it. Once I do, it automatically crashes because of and Unexpected Max error. (scene is saved as a _Recover, and then it closes)

I'm using Max 2014 and Corona 1.7 hotfix 2. The scenes were developed with 1.7, then I updated to hotfix 1 and hotfix 2 while working, they contain some Hair and Fur, and are not too heavy (6-7 million poly), I have 32Gb RAM memory. This didn't happen on previous versions. Can anybody help me?

It simply got lost down in memory lane... (and I'm completely unable to code!)

Just downloaded your HDRI, will check it out as soon as i finish a couple of renders. I've been long time looking for enviro maps taken from a higher position (not at ground level), so kudos for you! ;)

The tool looks really interesting, I'd like to follow up on the development. Had a similar idea a couple of years ago but it lead to nothing. So keep up the good work, it really peaked my curiosity. :)

There's a script that does this automatically, but only works with Vray. http://www.scriptspot.com/3ds-max/scripts/find-and-bind-vray-hdri-sun

But once the scene is converted to Corona, the link/wiring between the map and the sun is broken. I wish I'd knew some coding to fix it and make ir Corona compatible! :(
