#1 xform has no effects on Corona light. Sometime I use it to re-orient multiple instances of lights without open all groups

#2 gradient ramp has no effect on self-illumination texture slot,. It's ok for Corona light material.

very nice!
with Panotour Pro you can set the default views of the panorama according to the path.
For example if you exit out of the building you see it in front of you. In the real life the building should stand behind you.

ewww, 20km with 1-2cm details ;) This sort of scenes will always cause troubles, if your details are on the edge of the scene
I understand if this room is far away from the center but it stay on the center, more or less.
Imagine to create a fly-through animation with the country all around the building...
20 kilometers are nothing. I created larger masterplans with vray.
Probably Embree can't handle tiny and large details in the same scene.

you have the scene
I enlarged the base to 20km, 20.000 meters

Hi,
I've encountered an issue in refractions. (Alpha 6 14-04-2014 daily - Max2014)
I have a large model in Max modeled in meters (modeled with Autocad + Rhino in meters)
I created some thin glass panels 0,01-0,02 meters thick (1-2cm.)
On these thin glass panels refractions and absorptions are wrong rendered if the thickness is 0,01 or 0,02 meters.
If I change the thickness to 0,03 these panels are rendered good.
The absorption creates a strange effect on these panels, a sort of circular area in front of the camera (also on the left-right side)
Soon I will post some screenshots.

Hi,
I'm an active Octane for Max user.
I own Vray RT, Arion and Thea license.

I use professionally Octane 24/7, I have 12 gpus
You can't compare Corona with the gpu renderers.

If you do animations the best solution is Octane, you scrub the timeline and you get realtime results. With 4 Titans you can handle medium complex scenes with many instances.

For still life Vray rt, Thea, Arion, iRay and Octane are good tools but on really complex scenes Corona is the winner.

With gpus you must pay attention with textures. With GTX Titans you can't have more than 144 rgb textures.

I think that Ondra is working on the rt feature but I guess that the gpu is the only processor that can handle in real time many 3d raytraced polygons.
Keyshot is a good example on how use all the cpu power for realtime manipulation. It runs fast because it works in a standalone application.

The goal would be to have the Octane/Keyshot interactive speed using Corona.

[Max] General Discussion / Re: Displacement issue
« on: 2014-04-08, 10:20:24 »
in Octane for Max this issue is caused by a wrong scale setting
It's the lack of double precision gpus path tracing. That unstitching you see can't be computed.
Also in Octane there is a rayipslon bias control. I donno if it exists in Corona.

[Max] General Discussion / too much fast
« on: 2014-04-07, 18:48:05 »
Why Corona is so fast?

I'm just rendering an huge arch viz scene at 4K with 17M of polygons, forest pack, displacements, many layers of glass, tons of ies lamps.

after 20 minutes the image is acceptable...

impossible to achieve these results with whatever rendering engine on earth.

I think that Corona exceeded the speed limit and it's coded with alien technology...:)
