This is the intended screenshot of the feature in Max ;) A way to override displacement settings for individual objects, with different settings from the overall scene. I don't think this exists in C4D at present.

In Max this can be done by using a Displacement modifier in the stack rather than relying on displacement in the material (as that stack-based displacement is before render time, while other displacement is at/during render time, making it "impossible" to include it in the scattering in the same way it doesn't show up in the viewport).

It's still on the roadmap, as planned for at some point in the future (all we can say just now is "not Corona 8"):

At very least an image showing what you mean would be a huge help (along with either the scene, or screengrabs of the various set ups of the scene)

and Corona for Rhino?

There are no current plans to develop Corona for any hosts other than the current two of Cinema 4D and 3ds Max, sorry.

You can indeed use the rayswitcher if you want to cut something away but leave the interior lit as if it was not cut away (e.g. remove the roof from a building, but see the rooms lit as if the roof was still there). Slicer into direct visibility, nothing into the GI, and that should be it if I remember rightly.

If you are going to do anything with EXRs in Photoshop, always have installed (it's free), otherwise PS is no good with EXRs. May not resolve this issue, but is a must-do anyway.

Oooh cool, ty on the info about the game! Talking of that book, I must re-read it, been decades since I read it last. But back to the awesome images now :)

It should only affect how the light is bouncing around, and if it gets darker, this likely means the darker is more accurate. Might be useful if you post examples though so we can see what you mean, in case there is any problem there :)

It's safe (and better) to use the 4K unless you happen to get square artifacts, which only show up in very rare niche cases (so, try it and use it, unless you find it gives you problems which is unlikely).

Add a CShading_Beauty render element, and for that element disable bloom and glare. You still get the regular beauty with it baked in, but then an extra beauty without the b&g.

And just a note that there are no tutorials to be found because Corona 8 is in development - tutorials can't be made until a feature is finalized, and will usually only appear after the official release (as otherwise UI, feature set, etc. may still change).
