Gallery / An actual scandinavian apartment

A few studies from an apartment that was supposed to be a realtime thing (Unity/Unreal/VR, hadn't decided), but became images when I ran out of time to optimize for real time. Inspired by apartments I've been in, mostly in scandinavia, so technically speaking it's a Scandinavian Apartment.

A while ago I made a tool for my group at work for quickly viewing 360 panoramas and since it works well I took some time to clean it up and release it for free. It's web based and you will need to upload it to your own server, but there's no installation or setup, it takes a couple of minutes.

Sales pitch:

- Upload and view 360/panorama images in two-ish clicks
- Simple interface
- Works on desktop and mobile (tested in Chrome, Firefox, Opera and Edge - should work in other browsers)
- Desktop: rotate using mouse, fullscreen button opens normal fullscreen
- Mobile: gyro rotation (rotate/move phone to look around), fullscreen button opens VR view

Easy sharing:
- Automatically creates QR code (click on QR code to open large version)
- Automatically creates direct links to each image (just open an image and copy the url)

[Max] Bug Reporting / DR using old xrefs when rendering

I have a heavy scene that is basically all xrefs and I can't use DR because each render node seems to be using different versions of the xrefs. Is there a way to flush the cache or force the nodes to reload xrefs? Maybe it's somewhere obvious that I've missed.

Would it be possible to have a checkbox for applicable render elements to turn on/off post processing? It would be really handy to have "raw" beauty/lightmix elements when doing post in photoshop.

I made a quick util to control the daylight assembly from a popup panel. It's very quick and could probably be refined, but it works for me, so I thought I'd share. Only one daylight assembly is selected, so it won't work with more than one (for now).

Drop the script in max and then it should appear in the "RH" category (you'll have to make a button or menu item).

(I just noticed that the screenshot is in the wrong language, the script is in english)

[Max] General Discussion / 3ds max SunPositioner and Corona?

I just found that 3ds max has a new (ish, I just hadn't noticed it) SunPositioner that is a lot less "clicky" to use than the old Daylight System assembly. I can get Corona to work with it, but I'm not sure if I should? Are there any downsides to using it (besides the fact that the sun doesn't show up in the light lister, but that's another question)?

Is it a bad idea to have 1.7.4 installed on my workstation, but installing Corona 2 on our farm? Would I run into trouble if I wanted to use DR? I'm in the middle of a big project and don't want to switch versions before I know that 2 is bug free-ish, but my co-workers could use some of the new features and would probably want to switch.

I'm doing a walkthrough animation of an apartment that have very different light intensity depending on what room you're in and could really use an auto exposure feature. Is there any way to do it using 3rd party plugins or some smart trick?

We still have big problems with our farm, to the point that we no longer rely on it. In the render window it just says "Render starting", "connection problems", repeat. On the farm computer it starts to load the scene, then says "terminate_soft" and repeats. One of 9 of our farm computers works, but they're all identical both in hardware and in software (installed from an image). Any ideas? I've thought I've fixed it a couple of times, but even if it seems to work for a while, it always eventually fails and keeps failing.

Sometimes when IR is running and I click on the render (to make window active), the IR window resizes itself to offline render size and restarts. 1.7.4, I never noticed this in 1.7.3 or earlier.

Hi. Like the title says, what's the fastest and easiest way to create clouds of objects? I've tried the pcloud object in Max, but it's very slow and seems buggy, it slows down/freezes max. Also, I couldn't get it to use several meshes randomly. I have access to max/corona scatter/forest pack.

We have a problem with some of our farm computers. DRServer just can't run 3dsmax and I can't figure out why. All paths are correct, but it just loops endlessly. The other farm computers, with the same exact setup, runs without problem.

Every time, without exceptions, corona/max crashes if I forget to turn off IR when importing or merging objects in max. I've gotten so used to it that haven't bothered to check if this is a known bug for everyone, or if it somehow is just me. I've had this in every version of Corona/Max I've used.
Is this a thing?
