Hello,
as in the title, I'm rendering a short test (1080p). Outdoor, with grass and DOF.
After 50 passes (40 min) the rendering is good enough, but in the background, where the DOF is strong, there is a flickering cause the noise pattern changes every frame.
In VRay we have the option called "Time independent",

Time independent - when this option is On, the sampling pattern will be the same from frame to frame in an animation. Since this may be undesirable in some cases, you can turn this option Off to make the samping pattern change with time. Note that re-rendering the same frame will produce the same result in both cases.

I think Corona need the same option!

Hi Ondra,
is it possible to add the "Estimate time remaining" info for the current pass with bucket mode?
It will be useful to know, more or less, how the current pass will be finish.
also, it's very difficult to understand where is the bucket after the second pass.
And, why not add the possibility to move the bucket under the mouse, like in VRay?

BTW, I found Bucket mode more efficient with DOF. I'll post my test tomorrow!

Hello,
as in the title, how can we change the Proxy wireframe/point color?
With VRayProxy, the object color works as usual. In Corona is gray-out.  :/

Hi Ondra,
I wonder if it's possible add the possibility to turn off the rendering in Bucket mode when I have reached a certain time.
Cause, if I render some still in sequence, I don't know, now, how many hours the rendering it will be finish.

[Max] Resolved Bugs / Smooth shader bug!

As in the title:

CoronaSun + Portal + PT+HD.
The smoothing group is ok and the model too ( I created the chair in max)
The shader is a Blend material, inside a Mult sub/object material
Same problem with Gray Standard material and Gray CoronaMTL

PS: a side not. As you can see, the DOF is very noisy.
But, as we know, we have to wait a new adaptive solution.

Hi,

I don't know if it's a bug or we have to wait some optimization.
But, this scene, believe me, it's very complex. Many spot lights (Meshlights, cause real Corona lights create a more noise) and strong indirect illumination from the skylight make me crazy.
By the way, I don't know why, there are a lot of noise, after 3 hours, only in DOF and chrome object. Like when I use sub-pixel mapping on in VRay...
I tried different setting (PTS = 4) but it doen't help me.
And, if I use  LSM= 1 ( Light  Samples multiplier)  I have a loooot of noise near the walls, where the lights emit "light"

Here the steps:


  • Select "default" as a VFB in the  rollout: VFB Setting
  • Click render
  • No VFB
  • During the rendering process, click Show VFB
  • Now I can see the VFB

Hello, same problem here, with A5 31 May ( cause Asset traking and Proxy bug in the OFFICIAL A5)
This problem is random. When I render a crop, sometimes is fast, sometimes is slow.
In this test, from the first to the second render, I just check/un-check the emitter toggle in the shader and click render. No change or modification in the rendering settings, or inside the files etc...
I can see when I have this problem, cause the "Precomputing Secondary GI" is veeeery slooow for a small crop render. Next, the refinement will be slow too.

Hi,
as you can see in this image, my intention is to obtain a nice sun shadow, but with background (BG) on.
I used Corona ContantMtl, I tried to turn off "Cast Shadows" in the object properties, but nothing works.
If I hide the BG plane, obviously, I can see the sun shadows XD
Do you have some suggestion?

As in the title, if I try to open and old file with old proxy inside, 3ds max freeze and RAM raises quickly  the maximum amount of RAM.
Also if I try to merge it (but not with every old proxy). If I create a new empty Corona proxy and load from disk the .cbin file, everything is ok!
In attachment the files.
With A4 and A5 ( 2013-05-30) no problem.
As Ondra suggest me, there is some bug in the asset tracking.
