I'm planning to get a second monitor to go with my Dell U2723QE. Should I get the same model, or are there better options that won’t break the bank? Or should I wait for some new models coming out soon?

[Scatter] Feature Requests / "Use object local axis" option

It seems impossible to make objects rotate on it's local Z axis ONCE they've been rotated on X or Y axis FIRST.

It would be helpful to have an "Use object local axis" option for both "Translation" and "Rotation".

The ability to set render resolution per camera has been requested many times in the past but is still needed. This could also include a dropdown menu with resolutions/aspect ratios presets and the option for the users to save their own presets.

Hey guys, I'm looking for your help on setting up my new Dell U2723QE monitor for Max/Corona/Photoshop and Windows 11 in general. Right now, my saved renders are looking different from the VFB when viewed using the Window 11 image viewer or PS. They even look different in PS when pasted from the VFB. I've set my monitor color preset as Space/sRGB via the on-screen menu.

[Max] I need help! / [Solved] Rendering a new region makes the rest of the VFB going black

Every time I try to re-render a portion of an image using the region render tool, the rest of the VFB goes black. This is really annoying and unpractical in my opinion since it makes impossible to fix ONLY some parts of the image without having to re-render everything again.

I remember this never happened in V-Ray.

Hardware / 5950x, 7950x or 12900K for an upgrade?

After 7 years, I think the time has come for me to make an upgrade. However, this is making me feel overwhelmed for some reason. 3 main options are in my head: 5950x, 7950x and 13900K.

First of all, I'd like to determine which of those CPUs will allow me to re-use some parts from my current rig. Some of these parts are:

Cooler: Noctua NH-D15S https://noctua.at/en/nh-d15s
RAM: GSkill Ripjaws4 8Gb (x8) http://www.gskill.com/product/165/172/1535953333/F4-2133C15Q-32GRR
PSU: Corsair RM750x https://www.corsair.com/us/en/Categories/Products/Power-Supply-Units/Power-Supply-Units-Advanced/RMx-Series/p/CP-9020179-NA
Case: Fractal Design Define S https://www.fractal-design.com/products/cases/define/define-s/black/

I know 5950x and 12900K uses DDR4. But, will my current sticks work with those without causing any bottle neck?
What about the cooler? Will it work with any of those too? Same for the case.

On the other hand, I'd like to know how they compare in terms render speed. I've been looking at some YouTube videos and also some benchmarks but to be honest, I still have problems figuring it out. Is there any way to know how fast they are with respect to each other in terms of percentage? Like for example: X gives you 50-60% faster render times than Y?

I'm helping a friend to build a new PC for 3ds Max and Corona. Right now he's trying to choose between a i9 12900 or Ryzen 9 5950x.
Which one do you think would be a better and why? Any help will be highly appreciated.

[Scatter] I need help! / Trying to scatter objects along both sides of a spline

Hey guys!

I really need you help on this one. I'm trying to array two types of elements on a bunch of curved metallic tubes as shown on the attached image. These will be a bunch of really big chandelier on an auditorium. Objects must be scattered perpendicular to the normals of the tube and only on the sides of it, not on the top or bottom. They should also follow the ordered shown in the image: red, green, red, green, etc.

Is this a work for Chaos Scatter of should I look for something else?

Hardware / Buying a second hand Xeon for Corona. Does it worth it?

Hi!

I have a friend who is willing to build/buy a PC for Max and Corona. Since I've been a Corona user for some time now, he asked me about Xeon CPUS. He thinks it would be possible to get one from former servers at a good price. Unfortunately, I couldn't give him any advice since I have not a expert in this topic. So I told him I would ask in the forum.

What do you think? Does it worth it to look for a second-hand Xeon from an old server? What would the pros and cons?
