Hi All. I am using
MAX 2024 2024.1 update 26.1.0.2270
Deadline 10.3.0.13
Corona 10 hotfix 2

I have a rendering on deadline that crashes and reports an error. I've already been on deadline forum about this.
What is happening is the worker starts to render the image. When it is complete, it close and deadline reports an error. I am submitting 2 logs, one from max and the other from deadline
You can see in the logs at what point max crashes

2023/11/21 16:56:29 INF: [20184] [24200] CORONA : Denoising
2023/11/21 16:56:29 INF: [20184] [24200] CORONA : Cleaning up
2023/11/21 16:56:29 ERR: [20184] [24200] An unexpected exception has occurred in the network renderer and it is terminating.

If I download the max file and script I can load it up in max and it renders fine, no problem.

Hi, I have some questions here:

1. The month in the logs is November. If this is incorrect, a wrong date setup in the OS can cause software to misbehave. Please make sure that on all your computers you are using correct date and time settings.

2. "If I download the max file and script I can load it up in max and it renders fine, no problem." - What exactly do you mean by this? Especially, what "script" do you mean?

3. If you try rendering some other scene, even very simple like one teapot and one light, is it rendering correctly? Or is there an error again?

Can you also provide some general information about what you are rendering and why? How exactly are you using Deadline? Are you using it just to assign jobs to different computers? Or maybe it's some kind of distributed or tile rendering?

Hi Maru

1. Don't be concerned about the date. These are old logs I posted to deadline forum. I'm attaching an updated one from today.
2. I download the max file and script through deadline using Aux. Files. See attached.
3. My scene is simple as it can get. It's a cube with standard legacy 200 grey.
I have a deadline submission script that sends bake map rendering to deadline. The scene is what I'm using in #3 above. If you want the scene and rendering script I can submit it. The script is simple calling the rendertype:#bakeSelected.

Also I'd like to add is this whole scheme of rendering the bakemaps works perfectly in MAX 2019 and I've been using it for years

Not sure if this helps but Ive found with deadline max2024 enabling these two options works for me:
- Force Workstation Mode
- Restart 3dsmax Between Tasks

You can test it and see if it helps.

Thanks James. Yes it does render except the problem is that it uses a MAX license. We must be able to render it in slave/worker mode.

Yep, facing the same issue. We have to use workstation licences for now since thats the only workaround Ive found. Hopefully the Corona team can look into this issue since it would solve for us too. Vray works just fine without this workaround.

I have not tested with 'Restart 3dsmax Between Tasks' but I can not see this making any difference as it fails on the first attempt and rendering.

If it fails on first attempt then you are correct 'Restart 3dsmax Between Tasks' wont help. I thought you said previously: "Thanks James. Yes it does render except the problem is that it uses a MAX license."?
