[C4D] General Discussion / corona object buffer - animation
« on: 2019-11-19, 00:45:08 »
can't seem to get the object buffer layer 'Right hanging bracket' rendered out as a transparent png.

I select 'straight alpha' and use png format but once rendered the multipass layer/ object buffer layer has a black background baked in.

1st screenshot shows the c4d setup.
2nd screenshot shows the rendered multipass layer witht he black background baked in.
3rd screenshot shows the rendered beauty layer with the transparency correctly baked in.

I'm rendered a png image sequence for animation
C4d R20
Corona Version: 5.0 daily Oct 15 2019

any idea why can't get the buffer pass with transparency enabled?

(See attached)

rendering out as PNG image sequence - 16 bit
noise level limit - 3
denoising - corona high quality 0.3
preset - animation (flicker free)

All seals in ceiling and windows are closed.

PC & scene specs:-

[C4D] General Discussion / VFB adjustments
« on: 2019-09-24, 03:42:13 »
Hi,

If I'm rendering an animation and make changes in the VFB tools section. e.g changes to the exposure.

Does this change save to all frames in the animation, what about the ones that have already completed rendering?
How does this work and how to affect all frames with these changes for animation?

thanks

[C4D] General Discussion / isolating objects for animation
« on: 2019-08-30, 00:17:28 »
Hey,

I am about to animate components of a fridge in a kitchen environment and want to be able to isolate parts (doors, hinges etc)

I have attached storyboard examples

shot 1
fridge is shown in full kitchen environment

shot 2
Fridge doors are isolated, animation plays out to show handles and panels being installed

How can I isolate/fade out all the other objects and environment in the scene and leave the fridge isolated?
The display tag is not supported in corona so I cannot use that option.
The include/exclude options in corona do not work either as the matte/shape blocking objects is still calculated.

What would e the solution for this?

[C4D] General Discussion / c4d grass kit 4
« on: 2019-08-27, 02:01:03 »
using grass kit v4. Grass doesn't show up using IR render or interactive rendering. Only final render.

This a bug or correct for anyone else?

Work in Progress/Tests / fallen titan wip
« on: 2019-08-26, 11:00:41 »
hey all,

please help me in improving this render.

The idea behind the shot is a giant fallen titan that has been killed in the past and his remains lay on this landscape.

I want to get accross the size of the image, hence why adding the birds to show the scale compared to them.
I am stuck in how to move forward and improve the shot.

Any tips please?

[C4D] I need help! / Cinematic render
« on: 2019-08-09, 12:39:55 »
Hi,

I'm wanting to achieve a cinematic render. Think high end animation/ game engine cinematic. Reference attached.

I know alot of work will be in post but can corona for C4D achieve this look without basically having to do everything in post?

I have tried using heavy Bloom but not having much luck.

Any tips

Just wanted to say a massive congrats on how good the camera focus selector is when using the VFX interactive rendering.
Awesome work

[C4D] General Discussion / lightmix issues
« on: 2019-07-23, 07:21:58 »
Hey,

using c4d r20 and corona v4

when rendering to the VFB (interactive or final render) i can adjust the lightmix lights no problem.
However, once the render has finished and I try to adjust the lightmix settings, the entire system crawls to a halt and can barely process changing anything, or if do make changes have to wait for delayed changes.

how can the lightmix settings run faster when rendering then once finished. it makes it almost impossible to use.
This alos happens in the corona standalone image ediotr using a CXR after render has finished

Tried on 2 machines:-
16 core threadripper 1950x
i9-9000k

Work in Progress/Tests / product render
« on: 2019-07-22, 02:25:43 »
Hey,

working on a product render for a wine column.
This is the rack/shelf

would love to get some feedback for how to improve render.

It's going to be printed in a booklet so CMYK
2000 x 200 pixels 300 DPI
Has to be on pure black background
Has to be set camera angle shown

I've used a hdri for general lighting and then a series of corona lights

no sure how to progress from here, any advice?
product shots/infinite environments are not my strong suit

[C4D] General Discussion / scene recreation advice
« on: 2019-07-17, 22:28:03 »
Hey all,

starting a fun project today. Will be trying to recreate a scene similar to the attached.
Any advice for how to create this kind of scene?

I have no trouble with the modelling or texturing.

Advice needed for:-

Scale of objects
Camera distance without getting clipping
Environment settings (fog/distance haze)
use HRDi or Sun and sky

[C4D] General Discussion / Corona opacity/fade
« on: 2019-07-15, 03:36:14 »
Hi all,

I've got a grouped object which uses a large array of objects/instances and material tags on individual layers. (all animating)
The grouped object is a fridge. (layer panel screenshot attached)

How can I use a corona material to fade the opacity of the object to create an animation from fully opaque to fully dissapeared?

I can't fade the individual materials as they are applied to many other objects in the scene/environment.

I tired to use a display tag and fade from 100 to 0% but corona doesn't support the fade, it just cuts from 100 to 0

any ideas?

[C4D] General Discussion / Animation render times
« on: 2019-07-08, 22:57:26 »
hey all,

rendered a test interior animation over night.
Camera movement and fridge door opening in an interior kitchen

Came in this morning and render is only half way through 90 frames out of 180 total after 18 hours of rendering.

I'm running C4D R20 & Corona V4 latest daily build.
using Sun/sky and HDRI.

res= 1920 x 1080 @ 72 DPI

Noise level limit is set to 5% (even a bit noisy still)
Denoising set to high quality = 0.55

rendering to PNG sequence, 16 bit

My machine is-
AMD threadripper 2950x 16 core
RTX 2080 Ti
64GB ram

Do these render times look normal?
Seem to be way to high for just 6 seconds of animation which is still noisy.

Any ideas?

First frame of animation attached for reference

[C4D] General Discussion / portals
« on: 2019-07-05, 00:08:15 »
Hey all,

using C4D R20 & Corona V4 the latest daily build

Are portals still necessary in window slots?
End product will be an animation.
Will using portals help to stop flickering or should leave window/door holes blank.

Also, is this glass material correctly setup for a large, full height sliding door material.
The sunlight will be coming in directly through the glass sliding door
