Reproduction -> I setup a material with normal map. Start the interactive rendering, change the normal map intensity value, swap R/G channels or just turn it off and on. Stop interactive rendering, after that it asks do you want to stop current rendering ? Whether i click yes or no c4d freezes. By the way normal map destroys the whole material when i make ANY adjustment on it, so i have to reload the whole scene, simple automatic refreshing doesnt work for that.

Hello,

is it possible to send a snapshot of your node material editor (or Material Editor window) for further examination (or the problematic scene as a whole)? Simple scene with Bitmap > Normal shader > Corona Material did not result in any issues for me when following your steps. If C4D crashes, sending a minidump or a crash log would also be very helpful.

Reproduce the freeze: click on bump -> normal -> lets say tick swap R/G channels (normal map brokes this point so you have to restart VFB) -> do you want to stop current rendering -> yes -> freeze

If you ever feel the need to end a frozen C4D AND get a bug report, press "left shift"+"right shift"+"del".

Hi Devs,
is there any workaround for this problem ?
Really annoying because this problem makes real time material development with normal map basically impossible...

Hi Lev, Do you get the same freeze if using the viewport IR?

Whats interesting, that the default c4d material doesnt produce this normal map crash... Only the corona material
