3D ANIMATED PEOPLE

(1/1)

PLASTICINE:
Hello,

I juste bought animated 3D people at Renderpeople, and I have issues like textures are not coordinated with the movement. This kind of people is called Alembic.

When I open the 3D animated people file I have this message

New medium resolving
This scene uses legacy (pre-v4) medium/refraction resolving that is not based on the geometry normals and produces incorrect results when multiple medium containers are intersecting each another. If the orientation of normals is correct, switching will preserve or improve the look of the scene.
Do you want to switch to the new behavior?   Switch to the new behaviour »

But I cannot click on the link, it makes it disappear.

Do you have any idea ?

Thank a lot,

Vincent

Hello @PLASTICINE,
Thank you for bringing this to our attention.
Could you please provide any additional screenshots or a screen recording (would be better)?
Looking forward to hearing from you.
Kind regards.

I downloaded the free samples of animated people. Very nice to have that many options of render engines. I can confirm there is a problem with only the models that use image sequences for a material. Seems like it add additional detail to fabric folds as they move. The other point is this is not a Corona issue it seems as the model "rp_aliyah_4d_004_dancing_C4D" displays the exact same error as shown in the attached image. The other samples of Sophia, Nathan and Manuel all perform, display and render as expected. I tested the Corona and Standard .c4d versions, as well as, the Alembic file where I had to add the material myself.

Hope this helps. Aside from this issue, I think the product are pretty good for mid, to background use in a scene. I would not use these for anything close up.

Not sure if you're aware of the fact that those so called 4D people models use separate mesh for each frame and have different UVs and different textures for each frame too. You can't use single texture for the animation, you need to use sequence of textures. Personally i find those models worthless, as it is total waste of resources. Also they are not editable and doesn't look that much better compared to regular animated models.

BigAl3D:
I did mention the image sequence in my reply, but did not know about using a separate mesh for each frame. I assumed the final export would "combine" them into one animated model. I'm guessing most people realize they can't alter the pre-animated people. Actually, you can adjust timing and a few things.

Okay I learned a couple of things after playing with this for a bit. Turns out I was wrong about the material not working. I failed to actually render some frames and only relied on the viewport. If I go down the timeline and change the quality of the material preview, the proper material pops in. I also did an animation sample and I think it is very usable indeed. I don't have experience using Alembic, so didn't realize the .c4d file, references the .abc file with must contain all the mesh frames as it is 580 MB.

The other animated people's meshes (non 4D) are a little distorted and not 100% accurate.

@PLASTICINE – I get the same message, but when you click it, it goes away because it did "something"

@bnji_rsv – If you are affiliated with that site, I don't mean to come across as overly critical, just posting what I saw. I would use some of those assets in the right project.
