in the current build 13/01 theCorona materials and maps are stored in the root folder of the material/map browser.
Can't they be stored under "materials/Corona" and "maps/Corona" like other render engines do?

Hi there,

be aware that when you switch between Daily Builds and Alpha7.2 any masking render element will behave differently.
This is due to the fact that within the advanced options rollout of the materials "the intention" of the mask option has changed into the opposite from alpha to Daily build. It changed from "visible" towards "invisible".

Very annoying if you render out an animation.....

Maybe it is wise to switch it back to "visible" because:
- alpha users will experience the same thing as they use their old files with the new commercial build.
- users material libraries made with alpha 7 will have the same problem with newer builds.

Or is it possible to add some extra code that the switch between the older and newer builds will take visible or invisible masks into account?

Hi

I do not often use this Max feature "Bake Maps", but I found that this is not working with Corona.
It is not mentioned in the "bugs and limitations" threads.
So If you want to use this feature, you should switch to raytrace or Mental Ray.

Hi

For a new project I will have to use the famous wall material (stone) Peter Zumthor uses in his Valls project.
But in my project they (the client) want to use a cleaved version.

Has anyone created this material in the past? Or now some good textures or moddeling techniques?

Hi,

I always render to EXR (16 bit) with the different CESSENTIAL passes included. Just the way I did in A6.
With A7 I think that colormapping, especially Highlight Compression, is not saved within the CESSENTIAL passes.
It is only saved in the beauty pass.

I guess this is a bug?

PS: I make use of After Effects CC2014

not really a bug, but if Corona has tooltips everywhere, the options for displacement (corona material) needs it aswell.

Corona Map Output doesn't work with "Use photographic exposure" mode in Color mapping.

My backplate in the direct visibility override slot was still affected by colour mapping.
When I disabled "Use photographic exposure",  the backplate wasn't affected anymore.

Hi,
 
This afternoon I will explain to my daughters class what my occupation is.
They are 7 years old :-)

So I have moddelled and rendered their class room.  I hope they will understand eveything starting with SketchUp, over to Max and ending with Corona.

[Max] Resolved Bugs / EXR + C_Masking Pass

Hi, I have two issues with the C masking pass:

-I save my renders as an EXR with different render elements included.
At the moment it is not possible (or I do something wrong) to make proper use of C_masking (with the option Masking by MATERIAL ID) as a render element.
When I want to make use of the "ID matte" effect on the C_masking pass in After Effects, the different Material ID's are not recognised.

-Secondly (but this is not only EXR related) just like Zdepth,within the C_Masking pass opacity maps are ignored. They will be shown completely black.

just discovered a minor naming issue in the UI of CoronaRaySwitchTex within Slate:

Base = Global illumination -->  GI = Global illumination

the latter is more obvious for new users

Hi

I have a treeline mapped on a cylinder. Within the "object properties" of the Treeline object, "cast shadows" is deselected (visible to reflections/refractions is selected).
In front I have a building with a ballustrade of glass.
When I render this, the building is "refracting", but the Treeline object is not.

When within the object properties "Treeline object" I switch back to "by Layer", refraction is rendering properly.

Hi

Max (2014 SP4) is in one occasion "freezing" and in another occasion "my file went corrupt" when Corona sky is attached to the Max default Environment slot and with "use Environment Background" in VP enabled.
This problem occured because I was switching between a Bitmap (of a sky) and Corona Sky.
