Hi Coronanauts,

Midge from The Mantissa and I (Johan) from Belly.be are organizing a Meet Up for people from the 3D industry. We will meet in a pub in Antwerp where they serve some excellent Belgian beers.
What will we do: drink some beers and talk about nerdy stuff at least the people next to us will think so. We will exchange experiences and business cards, discus work and workflows and lots more. It all depends on what you want.
So whenever you are around on the 16th of February starting from 20u00, you are welcome.

[Max] I need help! / EXR default values

Can the default values of the options of an  EXR be changed?
Now the default TYPE is RGBA, but I would like it to be RGB.
For example if you open an EXR saved with type RGBA in Affinity Photo, the alpha is applied to the Beauty layer.

LUT and config file:
Hi there,
all the settings for LUT, hence LUT opacity, or not saved in the config file (Corona 1.5).
It will be awesome of this is the case.

Furthermore why is there a"built-in" button? I do not see why this is necessary. In my case all the Lut's are saved on a network drive.

Hi there,

can we have the option to save and load all the values of the items in the the post production Tab of the VFB?
For example into an xml file.
This would be extremely helpful, so I can save an xml file for each camera in my scene.

Hi there,

lately we are experiencing some issues (long waiting) with opening / saving large Max and PS files over our network (1GB). Mainly due to the fact that we have more Polygons in our Max scene and bigger resolution in our Ps files.
According to our hardware supplier this "waiting" could be reduced by or switching to a 10GB network environment (this will implement a new file server and switch) or by making use of software packages like Autodesk Vault, Shotgun or Ftrack.
Of course the latter is cheaper then upgrading hardware.

Has anyone experience with those software packages?

Or other packages which just cache files to a local harddisk and saves it back to the network when you close a file?

So, after some deeper investigation I figured out that Shotgun or Ftrack is not what I am looking for. Too much stuff I do not need.
Someone put me in the direction of Subversion. So basically versioning software. Someone uses this kind of software?

Hi there,

it could be that the following is possible, but I did not find a solution up till now.

We have moddeled some high detailed windows with glass planes included (one mesh).
We do not want to detach the glass planes from the original mesh.
If the glass material has the "visible in masks" option enabled, The glass will show up in a mask (render element CMasking_Mask). Which is obvious.
But whenever a tree is behind the glass, the mask (again render element CMasking_Mask) of the tree will only show the part which is not behind the glass.

Whenever the option "visible in masks" is switched off, the whole tree will be visible in the mask. Which is obvious. But I cannot create a mask for the glass.

So I would like to have a mask of the glass and a mask of the tree behind the glass without rendering twice.

Anyone an idea?

Hi there two questions:

-DOF with target camera: Is the following normal behavior?
A) If DOF isn't enabled in the render setup dialog, but activated in the target camera (which is always the case). The rendered visual will have DOF.
B) If DOF isn't enabled in the render setup dialog, but activated in the target camera and on top of the camera you have a CoronaCamMod with "Force DOF off" enabled. The rendered visual will not have DOF.

IMHO A is quite strange behavior because the setting of the render setting dialog is overrules by the target camera.

-DOF behavior with Physical Camera:
Is A) valid as well when using a physical camera with DOF enabled?

[Max] I need help! / noise limit - amount of passes

Hi there,

before we always render with a pass limit. Very comfortable to know the remaining rendering time.
With noise limit you do not have any idea about the remaining render time.

So would the following be true?

In order to know the total amount of passes which is necessary to have render with a noise limit of for example 5%, I can render (with region) the darkest spot of my render. and see how many passes are necessary.

Or works "noise limit calculations" differently?

[Max] Resolved Bugs / Animated Proxy from Grow Fx object

Hi there

I am experimenting with animated proxies from animated Grow FX objects. Nothing fancy just plane materials for now.
It seems that there is some distortion going on at the beginning of the animated proxy (first frames).
Is anyone else experiencing this?

Hi,

some part of my balustrade renders out black in some frames. Does any one has an idea to fix this? Or is this a bug?

DB: sept 6 2015
Ballustrade: instances of a box with chamfer modifier on
Material: glass thin (no refraction) enabled

Render settings: PT + UHD cache precomputed every 5th frame and reused for the whole sequence which is rendered on our farm with back burner.

If I render a frame locally with the same precaluculated UHD file, I sometimes do and sometimes don't have black parts in the ballustrade.

Hi there

DB 150616 en 150615 cannot open a scene made on 150312, max is crashing upon opening.
The scene can still be opened and rendered with corona_1.00.02.

I will report this on mantis
