Hi Guys,

i test the beta from Envision which might be pretty interesting. it stated corona 12.1 supports it, but when i export a scene i get several instance errors and missing geometry therefore in the exported render. windows etc missing (c4dinstances and cloners)

i am aware it is a beta but want to report it right away.
the same vrscene file opens ok in vantage.
but it has the same missing elements whebn i open the vrscne in the vrscene loader in vray c4d.

so it seems the vrscene from corona is yet ok with vantage but not with Envision(or vray), just to report.

also i see that many materials from corona exported cannot be edited in Envision (same work, some not, i haven yte found the system behind)
some materials also export wrong from corona to vantage as well as to Envision, in special if a texture slot uses the mix slider value other than 100% (which we use all time)

i hope this helps the developer to ensure a perfect Envision supportand imrpoved Vantage support

i see now even LIGHT MIX changes trigger a total refresh of the scene (parsing....)

- so IPR is hard to use at all,
- the sense of light mix is broken in this version (v12 rc2)

please try to fix that, it is so hard to setup any that way!

i also see it seems textures that use a mix value in the texture slot (like in diffuse/base color channel) arent exported yet.

it is great to have that export and live sync but i think a few tunigns need to be made yet to be more close to the export from vray c4d.

ok, max has 4 export options it seems, c4d 3, so i assumed this is the animation.

then i hope for animation added:)

i need to animated elements in vantage then, or i also seethe route via vray works somehow if one takes care one the vrscene export (vrscene to vray to vantage)
the new live link is great by the way- thanks for that!

last daily v13 update works fine, a lot faster, live link even and no crash!

one Questions, the point "export and render" as in max isnt yet available right?
(i tried to render an animation fromc4d corona to Vantage)

in max beta it is there, will it come to v13 c4d too? as even live link works now, i hoped this might be possible to add too:)?

hi

it is not tone mapping related,
 i mean the color correction shader inside a corona material!

so it is material related.
not the full image gets yellowish but just the material that has the bitmap with colorcorrection and a mix value that isnt 100%, like in diffuse slot, gets plain yellow in IPR render.

i can reproduce it here:
1) add a bitmap in a material in diffuse channel,
2) add a color correciotn shader to it.
3) set the mix vlue of the texture slot to liek muötity and set it maybe to 90% (to mix over the base color)

render in IPR it  renders ok

4) change soemthign to the material, liek the color correciton setting or the mix value etc,
5>> the IPR renders all objects that have this material applied as it woudl be a yellow color used instead of the shader.

you can "repair" this in going inside the color corr3eciotn shader and change one value, then the IR refreshes and render sthe material correct again

it might not happen in small scenes but in real world archviz scenes i have this very often, many times a day. as it renders ok in final image it is no drama, but from workflow i have to need to change the color correction again and agian to be able to use the ipr. or restart the ipr fully also solves it.

when we have a bitmap in a color correction shader, in like the base color channel often when i set the texture multiplier, the IPR render turns into plain yellow. i can only refresh it to get ok again in changing a value inside the color correction.

it seems it looses somehow the connection to the color correction shader when the texture multiplier slider is used
(which we need all the time, we often set values less than 100% to mix a bitmap over a color, which is a great feature)

hope this can be fixed for v13 release, the problem was also in v12, maybe even 11 by the way

as titile says,
in 13 daily i often see that the full ipr refreshes, even if i only change a tonemapping operator in vfb,  like white balance, exposure, acis or lut settings etc.

hop that can be fixed for release

sadly i must say it isnt solved, the problem comes back after a time:

1) even though i set cpu thread usage to 12(on a 56thread pc) it often uses 99% cpu power, it seems to ignore this setting
i also had the case where it did ignore the max IR resolution which i have at 1600px, still it did render more than 17xxpx

it seems the settings are party ignored, it is not related to once scene but many new and older, most time faster a time of rendering,
it is ONLY in IPR, fial render works fine.

somehow i have the feeling v13 has a very aggressive threading for the pr, this is counter productive. today i had to force kill a project, loosing 20 min of work, and not even that worked, the only way was to force restart the whole PC.

i hope you can solve it, Corona is great, but this problem is quite a pain.

well i know, but as vantage reads vrscenes from other apps, then it seems close that a written vrscene can be used also for other purpose (it seems to renders fine in vray via vrscene loader for example)

ok maybe i found it; the default -1 setting (one thread less than all possible threads) seem not to work anymore, also not -2,-3,-4...

what does work it seems is set the actual thread number, so i used 24 threads and now ipr usage is like expected and the gui doesnt stall anymore.

win10, dual xeon 56 core, c4d 2024.5

default settings, denoiser for IPR off

also if i reduce the cpu usage  settings for IPR it doesnt improve

i didn t have this in 12, but now in almost any bigger scene, i cannot even stop the the ipr render or close the vfb window(only after many tries)

the extreme cpu usage problem is ONLY when rendering IPR, not when rendering final images.
