It would be great to keep the 3ds max open on slave computers, just like vray's DR does.
For quick previews the rendering is already done by the time slave opens max and loads scene - poor slave didn't even had a chance to contribute :)

I would like to do this, but unfortunately Autodesk's stance is that this is not possible (without a proper licence for the renderslave)

What kind of license we are talking about? I did checked it with machines having own standalone licenses each, and same problem applies. 3dmax keep closing after finished render.

Could it be implemented as a user selectable option?
Just a checkbox in the DR settings roll-out.
