The dappling light looks like it's cast through a doily?

yes, there's a plane with a lace texture, an alfa, just a material, not a model

I really like the models, materials, and lighting. I think this scene would be a perfect candidate for the new V7 daily build with the Corona Physical material. I think high roughness and the sheen feature would work great with the cloth materials.

Hi, here's a test but I'm still playing with the new materials ...so i noticed the old material is now 'legacy material' and the new one is physical, this means the old materials are not physical? (sorry for the dumb question)

Thanks,

The tldr version is that both are "PBR" (Physically Based Rendering), but this is not an actual standard and means different things to different engines/software/companies/people, even though it sounds like it is a standard and it would be expected it means the same thing everywhere. The new one more closely adheres to what has become more widely expected, e.g. using Roughness rather than Glossiness. There are some changes in the new one that make it easier to avoid getting fake/incorrect materials.

The long version is in the optional text at the end of the blog https://blog.corona-renderer.com/behind-the-scenes-the-physical-material/ :)

Thanks so much for your answer Tom, I'm checking it up.
It's true, there are different names for similar features, I used Quixel and Unreal only for a little bit and then I knew Corona is already an unbiased engine, that's why now i was wondering about the distinction. I noticed in V7 it's a lot more handy to create physical materials due to the presets, it's a great feature indeed.

About the scene, sure I really meant I can upload it, I sent you a reply.
Thanks,

Got the reply, thank you for being open to that idea - a very nice scene that should be a nice showcase for some of the new stuff 7 can do :) And yes lol on the "standard" of what "physically based" means, 3D seems to like having things that people name as standards but which are in fact different depending on who you ask lol.
