Hello,

I'd love to see a better bump mapping in Corona.

In particular the ability to lower the blur value to near zero without problems.
Currently bump mapping in corona seems to work best with some blurring, which makes bump mapped surfaces to look not sharp enough.

Thanks.

Sorry, but I am afraid this report is not precise enough. Can you post some examples of what you are getting with different blurring values, and what you would like to get? (e.g. rendered in some other engine)

+ 1 on this, although not sure it's a Corona issue, maybe more a Max one.  I find to get the bump right, I HAVE to use a Corona Bitmap, and even then going lower than 0.1 isn't great.

I've had some instances where setting the blue to 0.01 on finer bump maps like wood grain on floors, the bump just doesn't work regardless of the multiplier value.

It's not a Max issue, bump improvements are needed on Cinema4d version too. I'm fairly new to Corona but I have 20 year experience using many other render engines, to be honest bump mapping in Corona is one of the worst implementation I've seen recently.
Overall Corona it's really a nice engine but bump mapping it's a basic feature and it must work smoothly.
I suspect that having an option to define custom delta will help quite a bit.

Please find 2 GIFs below. One with Corona and another with Fstorm.
I'm not sure if this is the best way to show it.
In my opinion the blurring in corona makes the bump almost disappear when zooming out.
It could be something else though. Like AA. Don't know.

Also in my opinion bump mapping in Corona is very good, except for small details.

This right here. Even with 8K wood floor textures I'm not getting the result I can easily achieve in FStorm.

The following is impossible with corona:

I hate to say it but this is another area that FStorm hands down beats Corona.
Vray who?

hem... Corona has anisotropy, no need to fake it with a tiny bump, no ?

Actually anisotropy is a fake and tiny bump is how it works in RL :]
