It would be great if you could, under distributed rendering add an option to assign certain number of slaves instead of "Search LAN during render".
If you render a job using the distributed render using specific slave IPs', a slave can drop, and it won't be back after the drop, because the "Search LAN during render".

The other issue with this system is when you have more renders on a render management (like Deadline for example), you must know that your render slave will be free at the specific time of render start. In other words, it will only use the specific render slave for slave, and by the time it renders, the render slave might be busy while other slaves are free and idle.

Vray has this solved by selecting a number of slaves. You could do the same. It would help people a lot.
