[Max] Resolved Bugs / Re: UI Layout alignments

Also remember Corona foundation of speed and simplicity. The UI is looking a bit ungly and getting cluttered.
I realaize that as you add features things need changing, but you should be holding that goal up to a better microscope.

You may as well add GPU rendering next lol.

- Windows Version 10.0.19043 Build 19043

- 3ds Max 2022.3

- Corona Version 8

- DPI scale is 100%

It would be great if the tone mapping pop up would remember size and position also. But over all Corona 8 has introduced a lot of bad alignments in UI.

And the small dropdown menu of the LUT selection is not great.

I know this is getting nit-picky, but one thing I like about the corona Devs is the attention to detail and layout of the UI of the past. As features are getting added
I realize things get more cumbersome, but this hurts my designer brain lookign at this. Great release over all, but for me the details matter.

Again, nit-picky I know.... :)

Also it would be nice if the new tonemapping UI did not reset its position and size everytime you close and open it.

[Max] I need help! / Re: Cryptomatte not working in Fusion
« on: 2022-04-05, 15:50:05 »
I am also not a fan and I am confused with the CXR file type for this. Was there an explination about why?
I am not sure you will see much adoption of this in workflows, other than for print work perhaps.
But for animation like pscgi said, its going to be hard to use in big animation workflows.

Can you post your Scene settings in the render pannel for us?

[Max] Feature Requests / Re: The most wanted feature?

My Bridge can export corona.

I m very interested how Chaos will handle marketing on their site of two products which do the same thing (Vray and Corona). It is like Autodesk situation with Maya and 3ds Max. Hopefully they can flesh out differences of both programs better than autodesk.

Easy, Corona makes stuff look better than Vray....problem solved hehe :)

There is a lot of good stuff in here for sure. Very happy to see Cryptomattes and the new tone mapping!

I hope the new pricing for render nodes does not mean an increase in our cost for cloud rendering though.

Either way it looks to be a big leap for Corona. Now lets just make it even fast please :) haha

I was JUST needing this.

+1 here too

Cryptomatte support please. I find your lack of Cryptomatte support disturbing. The most other features on the list can be filled in by plugins but I need Cryptomatte, having full blown pipeline with Vray for years using Cryptomatte and need it. Even Blender has it. Shame on you.

LOL.
Is this a joke??

It's not a joke for me. Not having Crypto Mattes is so weird. It's just another of those industry standards that the devs seem to look past. Nothing says fun render engine, like wasting time setting up mattes for a million shots.

[Max] General Discussion / Re: Tonemapping - Plz Halp
« on: 2021-10-29, 18:55:55 »
You may be right about FStorm. But when we are working with other pipelines now and the first thing we are asked is are we working in that profile,
we have to move with the industry. Don't get me wrong, Corona is a great render engine, but we have to move with the industry.
I believe that was the logic behind the new corona material. The old shader is great, but now the physical material is now industry standard. I guess what I don't get is the Devs not jumping ahead of the game here? It's not like it is something that is going to go away.

This is getting to the point where not having ACES in Corona will make us stop using it.
We are getting asked by compositors and studios to be workign in this workflow now. So if Corona
is not going to have this in the near future our studio will be forced to move on. Now that could be Vray,
Red Shift or Fstorm. I would say to the corona Devs, do not become like Autodesk where it takes years to get
industry standards into the software.

[Max] Bug Reporting / Re: New Sky Volume effect and VDBs
« on: 2021-10-25, 15:24:40 »
OK, so I turned off the sky volume effect and rendered the VDBs again. But I am still getting the little black squares in the render.
The Adaptive light Solver is still on, not sure that is still causing issues in this render?

Thanks for letting us know. Is this to be fixed in the future?
We love Corona, but we always feel backed into a corner with things that just don't work.

Think Motion blur with changing topology, Camera inside Volumes, and now the great new sky model not having volumes anywhere else in the scene.

All these things make using this render very challenging.

But thanks again for the info.
