Lot easier actually, I use this workaround also in V-Ray where refraction at 1.0 makes glass invisible.

Just plug for example CoronaColor set to complete black, or Output map with RGB Level at 0, or Multiply map with both slots set to black (pretty much anything that outputs just plain black color and is not slow) into diffuse slot of your material. You will then have correct black diffuse for metals in render. Now you can simply change your diffuse color swatch in your CoronaMTL to bright gray, to represent metal, but rendering will still use the map in the diffuse slot, and diffuse color swatch in CoronaMTL will be ignored, so everything will work right :)

Exactly. This is a nice little trick to solve that problem. Thanks for sharing it.

In our experience Max 2018 has been great. I would in no way go back to other versions. I would rather just stop doing 3D at that point. There have been so many good improvements since 2014 you are crazy to still be on that. Just my opinion though, I know everyone has specific needs.

I left Vray for Corona for animation in Film and TV. Everyone at our studio really prefers Corona for our work, even though it is branded an "Architectural" Render. I think that is slowly changing though. Corona for Film and TV!!!!!!

I would love to see Phoenix fire and water sim incorporated in Corona. Get rid of all Chaos' chaos and introduce some Corona user-friendlyness to it.


HAHAHA, I would also love this. The UI is a mess in Phoenix.

Have you set the Alpha mode in Advanced Options to "always white" in the diamond shader?

and the render mask like "render viewport selection" don't work for that?

You know what. The options in the Render Select work great actually haha.

Interesting, I never thought of it. I do like all the options Vray let's you control though when doing this. I would have to check the alpha edges and make sure it would be ok for compositing.

To be fair I just found out that I can right click a bitmap and choose Edit Bitmap from the menu. But it is not there in Corona Bitmap. I know its only a few clicks away, but can this little bonus be added to the Corona bitmap. I have found it to be one of those little time savers when editing maps in a shader network.

This change is making us crazy. The constant frame buffer size change is very unwelcome. It used to not be like this right?

Having now been using Corona on a few animation jobs (We are in love with Corona) we are having a hard time with one thing when needing to add a pass or object into shots, without wanting to re-render the whole scene.

In Vray there are "Vray Object properties" that let's you quickly matte out objects, but still have them cast GI and stuff into the scenes. I can't find a good workflow for this in Corona. I would like to just select my scene objects, right click and go to Corona Properties and then set them to be matte objects. This may not be desired in the way Corona works, so sorry if this has come up. Anyone know a workflow for this?
