Thanks for sharing, this is very interesting and we will investigate. Just to make sure: in Corona Image Editor are you using the "save" or "save all" option when resaving to CXR format?

Just "save". It already takes some time especially when cxr is in high resolution and with a lot of elements, I'm afraid "save all" as cxr would explode my machine.

Ok, so it works now and I think I figured out why it didn't work first (and whether that's a bug or not it's up to you).

I would save my render to .cxr (we use deadline for rendering so that's a standard workflow) and then would open it with Image Editor and would try to save from there to another .cxr file. Instead, I should've just copied the original .cxr and renamed it to .exr, opened it in Photoshop and voila! In theory, resaving the .cxr into another .cxr should create the exact same file but somehow it doesn't work with cryptomatte exr worflow. I know it's confusing but I hope I made it clear enough to understand.

Thanks for your help.

I'm using Corona 9 (Evergreen). And that's the exact tutorial I tried following. As mentioned previously, I have tried saving in .EXR/.CXR, changing extension after saving the file, checking/unchecking various options when opening with EXR-IO in Photoshop and all the other iterations of this tutorial with no success.

I understand that other compositing software is better in how it deals with color, grading, etc. but our team is using mostly Photoshop so it's just more convenient at the moment...

So I've been trying to make use of CMasking_Cryptomatte element with no success. I've followed official tutorial on Corona website, tried using different ID types in the element settings rollout, save the file in all kinds of formats and open it in Photoshop using Exr-IO plugin. Every single time, it opens a file with many layers in it but the actual monochrome masks for different materials or instances are not present.

After doing some digging up here in the forum there doesn't seem to be that many people facing the same issue so I want to believe the issue lies somewhere on my end, however I have no idea what else can be done in order to make this work. Has anyone else had trouble loading cryptomatte file into photoshop or is it just me?

Another great series from you, I absolutely love your style!

Also, great idea with those blurred skies, somehow really blends well with all the details in the image. Good job!

Great work, especially love the natural tonemapping. Is it new ACES OT or is there some other LUT magic going on here? Thanks and keep it up!

Above all the before mentioned comments, I'm also very impressed with the people.

They are the ever lasting topic of discussion in architectural renderings and quite often break realism if not used properly. In this video I think you succeeded in both, the balance between space and people as well as quite realistic and fitting people in terms of their activities. I'm sure that's something you put a lot of thoughts into. Could you elaborate about the process? How do you integrate people in your story telling? Is that the responsibility of Art Director? Do you write a script when making such animations? Do you animate your characters individually to fit the narrative?

Once again, great stuff!

Very nice lighting and tonemapping, good job! May I ask where did you get those plants/flowers from? I've been seeing them quite often in modern interiors and they really look great.

A true masterpiece, down to every detail :) the outdoor shoots are obviously amazing but I must also say - all the other concept shots are just good, if not better! Bravo

Lovely set of images! And to follow up previous comment, I kind of like muted lights - it makes the interior look less perfect and therefore, tiny bit more realistic. But that's just my opinion :)

I've been seeing these very neutral looking plants in quite a few interiors lately. Could you share where you got them from? :)

@razvanux - It's true about constructive feedback, and criticism is definitely better than leaving pointless "great work!" comments. That is something we repeated many times. But on the other hand, the way you share feedback is very important as well. It should not be done in an arrogant manner, and it should always be done with respect to others. I am sure that you had good intentions, but I can also understand that some users may have perceived it as slightly offensive.
For example here - https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?topic=29147.0 , you wrote:

Very yellow images overall. You have something that is called  white balanced. The white need's to be always white .

It is rather obvious that the author is a professional, and even if his images appear highly warm / yellow, he understands the concept of white balance well, so telling him "You have something that is called  white balanced" is a bit rude. This could be of course because of the language barrier, or because of general issues coming with online communication.

I am far from giving you any kind of official notice, but please try to make your remarks as accurate as they currently are, but more friendly. :)

Well, now that I read your comment maru I must admit my reply to this guy was probably a bit too aggressive. However, we both make the same point and I totally agree that there's a huge difference between stating a personal subjective opinion and giving constructive feedback that is based on experience/knowledge.

But let's not make this another ranting thread :) don't worry, be happy!

Stunning ! In my eyes, perfect.

Couldn't agree more. This short teaser is really looking promising and having seen more of this artist's work I'm sure the full movie will be just as amazing.

Also, it's crazy to think that the general quality of renderings in this forum (and many others) is so high that soon we won't be able to tell what's real and what's not :) I'm personally very excited to be witnessing all of this.

Great job!

I saw the images on fb. A lot of likes for so many mistakes.First of all  :
01.The water drops are huge.
02.The metal spiders on the glass they also sit on a Column .
03.The  plane is to close to the glass facade .THat will never happend.
04. The floor textures looks big.
05.NO interior lighting.
Good idea but the execution is bad overall.

PS. If you create a story I need to understand that without you telling me.

Dude, did someone hurt you? Looking at your comments, you only criticize every work posted on this forum and you're not even right for most of it. It's so obvious that this render is not about correct window framing system or size of floor tiles (since when can't we use any texture size in this imaginary world of visualization?). No interior lighting? Are you for real? Do you even follow the story of this image?

While I support constructive criticism with comments on how to improve, your reply adds nothing to artist's work and your opinion on "good execution" is very shallow and ignorant. Please stop complaining about things that are irrelevant and trashing great work by people in this forum.

To many details in the same image. If you use so many details in the close up don't use also cumulus clouds in the back . They for  form outside of main land. In this case on the seaside .
Sometime : Less is more.
The images could be great if had different clouds in back .

I completely disagree with you here.

It is clear that the artist didn't go for a traditional 3 plane composition here with blurred foreground and background, but instead chose to portray the architecture and the landscape in all of it's glory. With that in mind, I believe that having a dramatic sky and lots of details in both textures, entourage and key objects of the image makes it visually and conceptually interesting and contributes to the overall story. While quite often having this many dominant colors and/or textures in an image can result in imbalance, I would say that this time they do play together really well.

Great job on matte painting the image! I always love a little bit of a side-story in architectural visualizations :)

First thing that pops into my mind is composition - or rather lack of it. What is it that you want the viewer to focus on? The images sort of clip on both bottom and top of the frame, so I would suggest learning about rule of thirds and most primitive photographic compositions first (this one specific article helped me a lot back in a day: https://www.ronenbekerman.com/photographic-approach-in-architectural-visualisation/).
