Something close to this was possible some time ago ( https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php/topic,577.msg4397.html#msg4397 ) but now there is no CoronaColorMapper map so it would be harded. Also, in your examples the colours vary close to hard edges so it would be best to paint these maps manually. You can also try with inversed AO but it may be tricky.

You are saying "hey my rendering looks bad" and you just show it so that was my adequate answer. If you want your problem fixed, then at least describe what you have done and how and it would be best for you to show some wires, texture setups, screens, and maybe images at some other angles so that we can see the windows and the rest of the scene.

Could it be because of filtering? Try setting texture's filtering to none.
You can also do such things procedurally, for example with gradient map.

Keymaster, can you please make it possible to switch between each parameter using the TAB key? It's just ding-a-ding-ding now.
Also, it would be nice to be able to spin the spinners beyond your monitor's resolution like in other max's spinners.

[Max] Resolved Bugs / HD cache calculations freeze + crash

Just downloaded newest build (Build timestamp: May 25 2014 19:59:58) and this happens: I created a simple scene with a room with a window hole, when rendering pt+pt everything is ok, when I switch to pt+hd and hit RENDER, the rendering freezes at the very beginning of HD cache calculations and doesn't continue. When I hit cancel, whole max's interfaces is frozen and I have to kill it manually. After some experiments I've come to conclusion that this doesn't happen only when there is no portal covering the window hole. If the portal is a bit smaller - it renders fine. If I make it big enough to perfectly fit the window hole - it crashes. Scene in attachment.
