Is there any trick to uniformly lighting the interior of a building for an exterior night shot?

It's really easy these days, Allegorithmic released a Substance plug-in for 3ds Max (https://forum.allegorithmic.com/index.php/topic,23421.0.html). It is a beta plug-in at the moment but it was released awhile ago so a newer version should be coming soon.

You basically load a substance into max then use the plug-in to convert to a Corona material.

I'm not sure of your issues with GoToMyPC, but the Nvidia driver download page is working for me. Just tested downloading 1070 drivers without issue.

[Max] I need help! / Re: Wood material - floor

...I was thinking to use substance designer but i very newbie with it so i don't know if there is a way to use different image of wood and use it blended with a cell pattern.

You should be able to do it easily in Substance Designer with Cells 4 and a parquet pattern. I haven't touched SD in awhile, but if you asked on the Allegorithmic forums I bet someone could figure it out in no time.

Wow, thanks for all the great tips everyone. I appreciate it.

Tom G, thanks for the great explanation. Really helped shifting the way I was trying to go about it. Would you recommend motion blur in Corona? Or would that be better in a video editor?

I've been playing around with animating my architectural visualizations recently, but I'm having trouble getting them smooth. Is there a rule of thumb for how fast my camera should be moving in 3ds Max?

I rendered out an image sequence overnight. I panned across the front of my building from frame 0 to frame 60, and rendered all 61 images. When I brought it into Premiere Pro it was either way too fast, or way too choppy. I got it looking okay eventually, but nowhere near as smooth as a typical animation.

Does anyone have any tips or tricks for setting up animations? Is there an ideal velocity my camera should be moving at? I have a big animation to do at work in May so I'm trying to get a solid grasp of it beforehand. Thanks for the help everyone.

For just 3ds Max and Corona? It's not worth it.

Thanks Sprayer, can I see your material setup? I got the look I want by plugging ThinFilm into Reflection Color, but I can't seem to reproduce what you have.

EDIT: Didn't see your response Maru, plugging it into refraction color as well gave me what I wanted. Thanks again everyone!

I've got the look of the glass down, but is there anyways to get colored shadows?

That seemed to work, I forgot all about that plug-in. Thanks Romullus

I was wondering if making this type of glass would be possible in Corona: https://www.goldrayglass.com/products/dichroic/

It's seems to be a film laminated in between two layers of glass. Anyone have experience with this? Thanks!

Hardware / Re: 4k monitor workflow

You might want to check what kind of cable if going from your video card to your monitor. If I use HDMI on my monitor it is locked to 30Hz. I need to use a Display Port cable to get it any higher.

Congratulations Corona team! Finger's crossed that everything goes as smoothly as planned.

This video on the Corona Renderer YouTube channel explains how to get sharper shadows using a HDRI at around the 8:30 mark.
