[Max] I need help! / Baking shadows with Alpha
« on: 2018-06-15, 16:20:18 »
Hi Everyone
Wondering if there is a way to do this

We are trying to bake a shows plane with the shadow of furniture when we bake map furniture
The shadow would be baked into a texture with alpha channel.
Is this possible to do in Corona using render to texture?
is there another method to capture corona soft shadows with alpha channel for use in a game engine?
Thanks ahead of time

[Max] I need help! / Render to Texture AO pass
« on: 2018-01-17, 21:41:45 »
When doing render to texture, is it possible to do an AO pass at time as when you're rendering the beauty and lightmap passes?

Is there any way in corona to get an object to self shadow but not cast shadows on other objects?
I need an object to have shadows from itself on it's self, but not cast shadow on other objects
Is this possible other than using an AO setup in the shader?

I am trying to get into the Deadline forum, but if anyone knows that would be awesome

Backburner has an "Include Maps" options to avoid network issues on slave machines, would anyone know if Deadline can do that and what they call it  / how you access it?

[Max] I need help! / RRT coming out red
« on: 2018-01-08, 20:06:45 »
Hi there,
We are getting Red renders for bakes in areas where there are textures, I am assuming this is a networking issue, but if it's not or someone knows a fix, could you let me know what that fix is?
It happens sort of randomly. The machines were double checked for licences. I can only guess that they are lacking access  or permissions
Thanks ahead of time

[Max] I need help! / [solved] Deadline render errors
« on: 2018-01-03, 15:03:51 »
Hi Everyone,
Starting last week I have run into an issue where a file I have gets a ton of errors when rendering on deadline doing render to texture baking

This is the error the render jobs are throwing up

Error: RenderTask: Unexpected exception (Exception caught in 3ds max: -- No ""select"" function for undefined

This is a new one, hoping someone can help, we're stumped here.

I am having a similar issue, the problem is Render too texture doesn't work well with that over ride material setup, we've tested it and it doesn't work as expected or at all for us when baking.

Why tease us with the options, I want one light only too affect a group of objects with shadows, and one other object that needs to be lit from the same light, but not receive shadows from it.

Hi Everyone,
I have a series of models I am using render to texture with. Different Max files, but the same meshes. Testing out various lighting styles.
I am getting a very random occurrence where the same model in one Max file renders fine, but lately we are seeing a lot of the bakes rendering all red or orthographic all white.
It's not a Vray material or non support material that's on the model either, it's all Corona materials.

[Max] I need help! / Light map seams
« on: 2017-07-12, 19:16:54 »
Hi There,
Using Corona for Lightmaps baking has some issues for us, wondering if some one or a Dev could comment and let us know if this is a bug or a settings issue.

Our render to texture settings are up to 32 pixels of bleed (32 Interior, 16 Exterior, but this still happens.

There is a bleed / lack of accuracy compared to Vray and as a result large surfaces have a seam like this around them
(Images attached)

A link to look at the results in Web GL

If we are doing something wrong please let us know, any solution would be great :)

[Max] I need help! / Bake maps lacking contrast
« on: 2017-07-06, 15:50:31 »
Hi Everyone, We are baking an interior and the bake maps lack contrast compared to the Vray ones we were doing before.
The Corona renders are looking a little flat in the Web GL engine we use.

The App for reference:

Would anyone have some good recommended settings for baking pure light maps that have good contrast and aren't too over blown ion the lighter parts of the render?

I attached my settings, please let me know if I am off some where, new to baking in Corona :)

[Max] I need help! / Corona Light Map baking
« on: 2017-06-28, 19:27:45 »
Hi Everyone,
I am switching from Vray to Corona for Lightmap baking and was wondering if I could get some advice from those that have done it with Game engines.

When doing the bakes I am using these settings, finding it a bit washed out Vs Vray.

Also, can Light portal materials be used when baking?

Here are some examples:

Corona setups attached.

I have some Corona 1 scenes that I am reverting back to Corona Free, but i get crash, if i merge with out merging the lights, that's works in most cases.
Not sure if it's a bug or the intended behaviour.

After the first two Corona rendering jobs I have sent to the network, all the BackBurner Servers crash
on only the machines rendering the Corona rendering jobs.

We don't run it as a service so I have to manually restarted all the servers via Remote Desktop.
This doesn't happen unless the render job is stopped or suspended from what I can tell.

I also have seen a once in a while random crash locally when rendering.
The error I haven't seen before is attached.

Our setup:

Max 2015,
Windows 7
Coroana 1 (Demo)

Like the header say,Volumetric Renders do not update using the interactive renderer. The SSS shader I am working on is very slow to render normally, so I think it is killing the interactive one.

[Max] General Discussion / Subsurface Examples
« on: 2015-03-03, 14:50:07 »
Trying to wrap my head around the Sub Surface set up for Corona.
It sort of works for me but not as expected,
user error for sure:)

Would it be possible to post a Max file for the examples from this page to let us play with that?

I do medical animation and sub surface scattering is a must to get nice images :)
