Maybe the output of a

"ipconfig /all"

and

"route print -4"

sheds some light on this and shows something suspicious. At least it´s a less blindfolded approach :).

But I have to admit, from your descriptions I would still suspect something blocking like a firewall.

If everything fails, you could still try to somewhat "reset" your tcp/ip stack e.g. as described here:

The problem is still, that you cannot use some shaders

It´s of course beyond my knowledge to estimate if this is solvable. But if somehow yes, it´s quite tempting. Especially when thinking of only one slave-side Corona implementation for all ports.

I wonder if it would be possible using Corona standalone to implement a mental ray satellite like distributed rendering solution. No max overhead or long loading times...

Do I need Max/Corona latest daily to export scenes properly for the new built? I tried in a haste to export a scene and render it in standalone a few days ago but it did not work.

It happened every second time i've hit the renderbutton.

Then you had every second time a tree selected and the modify panel open :) It freezes reproducable while scene parsing in this case. And it should render reproducable if not :) You may want to test it.

The only reason to bake LW-Trees (or convert them to proxies) at the moment is using "Leaf Density" combined with (Corona) distributed rendering because every slave will render different sets of leaves in this case. But Laubwerk promised to fix this.

Hi ikercito,

have you by chance started the render with a low number of threads configured in "Performance" -> "Performance Setting"?

I´m curious because I had this once in a while lately (v. 1.3/Max2014+16) and I have the feeling it´s somehow connected to lowering threads here. Usually I leave only 2 threads for the Master-Max while working on other stuff. The result was/is either as you described or it´s some kind of white window flashing / z-fighting / redraw orgy.

My guess is also that it was undocked and moved offscreen.

Close max, search for a file named "docking.cfg" in some SME subdirectory, backup it temporarily and delete it at it´s original position, then restart Max.

The SME directory is either in your user folder (AppData/Local/Autodesk/3dsmax/(version)/enu/sme or such) or directly in the max application directory.

1. Just use the same what you would type at the login screen (the domain name is implied at a interactive login when the computer is part of a domain). If you want to authenticate locally just type the username. If it is not recognized then the user doesn´t exist on the workstation and logins are authenticated against your domain controller (=server). If you want to use credentials of the the domain server (presuming all accounts are managed by your Domain Controller=server) then use "domain\username" (domain and user separated by a backslash, yes!) when changing the user in the service properties.

2. Ok the server is a server then :) But on what OS is the CoronaDrServer service running? Are you testing on the server itself? Or are you using a server OS on a workstation (some do)?

4. Ok, this is your Server 2012 R2 with all the shares. And it has a ugly name so that you don´t want to expose it 8-)

5. What´s the output of "echo %usserdomain%" when used in a shell started by the user you would like to run the service with? That would be the first part you would have to enter at 1.

• Did you used user "local system" to run the service? And if so, could you test changing the user of the service to some account you used to date?
  
• You aren´t on win7, are you?
  
• Does the share "Work" has read acces for "everyone" configured?
  
• Is "SERVER" actually a windows server or a workstations named as such?
  
• If it´s a server, are the nodes part of a (network-) domain?

Hello naikku,

the amount of jobs BB assignes to a node depends on the rendertime of the previous frame(s) and is handled dynamically. I know of no option to change the balance between rendertime and assigned tasks.

But you can disable task blocking for a job completely:

While submitting a job: Advanced settings button in job asignment window -> Job Handling -> Enable task blocking
Existing job: Right mouse klick on the job in Queue Monitor (or Ctrl-J) -> Enable Blocking Tasks -> No

Is it possible that there is an old/wrong reflection pass comped into picture #5? I can see a slight reflection of the shower tube on the wall and some square bidet on the ceiling.

Nice mood from lighting in all shots. Skylight only (or even boosted white ;) is a setup where Corona always shows the beast inside, amazing.

No registration is needed, if you already registered it.
Run services.msc, find CoronaDr server,right click, properties, user, change from system to user, type username and password.

I´m aware of that, my initial post was aiming for a simple slave setup where not even a user account has to be configured/worried about - and I didn´t wanted to write even more confusing stuff. Using the license server is peachy anyway (is there any reason to NOT use it?)

Maybe I will add some "advanced users" part :)
