[Max] Resolved Bugs / Render starts itself when file is open

Hi

About month ago notice some strange thing. Sometime when I open file corona automatically starts render as soon as file opened by Max. Now I use 2016-03-12 build and had the same thing happened few minutes ago. It's not a problem to cancel it, but for example now I had another file rendered in the same time and I didn't understand why rendering goes so slowly until I switched to second Max and saw that rendering is going there also. It doesn't connect with some particular files, as I said it just happens sometime

I use Corona 1.3 and have issue with Render selected feature. If it's active it makes picture around selected object more and more blurry every time I start render. If I use IR it blurs picture more every time IR re render selected object.
Please check the attached pictures - here I just start and stop render selected wide green box several times, and if you look on gif-file you can see how it looks with IR.
All settings here left by default.
I didn't have this problem using Corona 1.2 with daily builds

Hi guys,

I took quite many useful tricks and tips from this site and got help from you when I need that. So now I want to share with you the feature I found very useful in my workflow.

It's about mouse buttons functionality in 3DS Max. I work in this program many years and always had a question – why I can use only three mouse buttons for Max's commands? Of course it's possible to use other buttons as normal Windows functions, like undo and redo for example, but I prefer to use keyboard shortcuts for those commands.

And not long time ago I found solution for my wish to use all mouse buttons in Max. This is small program X-Mouse Button Control. It is free of charge program which allows you to override functions of mouse buttons for all or for some of the programs you have on your computer. In my case I use possibility to simulate keys of keyboard in 3DS Max. What does it mean? - It means that when I press 4th button of my mouse 3DS Max sees it as key “\” from keyboard. And for that key I assigned shortcut for Move Transform Type-In dialog. Now when I press 4th button Transform Type-in dialog appears. The same you can do with 5th mouse button if you have it on you mouse and assign another Max's command to it.

BTW about  Transform Type-In dialog. I work with architectural visualisation and almost all the time need to move or rotate objects to a certain number of units. And having two quite big screens it always irritated me to move mouse from fares corner of the screen to  Transform Type-In dialog in the bottom of the screen to type a numbers there, another possibility is to use build in  Transform Type-In dialog, but it appears in a place where you moved it last time and anyway I had to move mouse there. Searching the ways to make Transform Type-In dialog more convenient to use few years ago I asked Rotem (creator of VFB+) - is it possible to write a script which make  Transform Type-In dialog appear in a place where I have mouse pointer at the moment. He kindly agreed to write this script and sins that time I use it always. First I activate it with shortcut from keyboard and now I use 4th button of my mouse for this.

Combination of Rotem's Transform Type-In dialog and  X-Mouse Button Control is very good for me especially when I model some buildings with certain highs of the floors, distances between windows, etc.

Hi,
MultiTexture map from CG-Source doesn't work in Object mode. If this mode chosen it works as in Material ID mode. In new scenes I can use CoronaMultiMap, but I have to work with older scenes where I used MultiTexture map quite alot, and MultiTexture map has some useful features I'd like to use in new projects also.

Hi,
Noticed the bug (?) using GradientRamp rotation in bump slot.
If W rotation of the map is inbetween 87' and 93' bump dissapears from some of polygons in example with box and Box UVW Maping. If I use plane with Planar maping bump disapairs from it with the same angle range.

[Max] General Discussion / Which render farm do you use?

Hi guys,
In nearest future we'll need to render quite big amount of hi-rez stills in short time and it's clear that we have to use some commercial render farm for that. We have to make a choice which farm we are going to use and my question to you is - which render farm do you use for your renders? Would be interesting to know also did you have any problems with render farms and what kind of problems you have had?
I will be very grateful for any information about your experience in using a render farms.

I'm currently using Corona 1.2.1 Build 6.08.2015.
CoronaMultiMap gives different combination of colors/maps each time I close and open the file again.

Hi,
Today I installed Corona 1.01.00 and tried it on scene I'm currently working on. Unfortunately I've noticed that Corona 1.00.02 DB 2015-06-16 1.01 RC2 rendered my scene a bit faster. I read that using CoronaBitmap should speed up rendering process and I converted all Bitmaps to CoronaBitmaps using Corona Material Converter. Render time grown up for 26%.
Statistics are in attachments.
Also I've done the same with another scene and I've got 12% longer render time with CoronaBitmap instead of Max's Bitmap.
DUAL Intel(R) Xeon(R) CPU E5-2660 @ 2.20GHz, 32GB of RAM

Hi,
I get Maxscript error message every time I click right mouse button when Corona Scatter selected. I noticed that it connected with "renderable on/off" switcher I have in right click quad. This error doesn't happened if I remove this switcher from quad.
It's not big but annoying thing ;)

Hi,
I'm using Corona MultiMap with Instance mode in file with animation. Using Interactive Render I've noticed that each frame it change color combination. It uses maps/colors from slots, but each frame it uses them in new object-color combination . It doesn't happen when I use normal render, It happens only in interactive render mode.
And about Corona MultiMap - it would be useful to have random seed controller to have possibility to change object-color combination, because now it's no way to control it.
Currently I'm using build from 16-04-2015.

Hi
While I was checking difference between different materials mode (Legasy (A7) mode and new GGX) I've noticed this bug.
To get attached pictures I did this order of actions:
Render,
 -> check Legasy (A7) mode -> uncheck Legasy (A7) mode -> Render,
again check Legasy (A7) mode -> uncheck Legasy (A7) mode -> Render,
and so on...
All settings are the same in all cases, but results on renders are so different, and they do not look correct - some strange stains of light appear in different places and overall lightness is different also.

Materials are simple light gray on the walls, boxes and sphere, darker gray on the floor.
Lighting - corona sun + corona sky.
PT+UHD Cache

[Max] I need help! / anisotropic reflection

Hello!
I have a problem with anisotropic reflection. Is it possible to make direction of anisotropy related to the object local coordinates? "Anisotropy" and "rotation" parameters rotate the hotspot in screen coordinates and objects with the same material look different depending on their position and angle they are rotated.
