Ya, I have also been less excited about Corona releases. I feel like the momentum that Corona used to have is gone, and the road map is out of step with our studios needs.

Do you animate and do vfx work? Do you do motion graphics? Are you just importing and rendering models?

I think a link to your work would be good if you want better answers. But I will tell you life is not better in C4D land for everything.
It sounds like you have tried real time rendering and GPU rendering and I agree that it can't hold a candle to Corona quality. But man I'm not
sure if you're going to find the quality in lumion that you seek.

Good luck, and one last thing I have found is that Max still to this day can get shots done faster than a lot of things, but to each their own. IF you hate Max stop using it I say.

On Tyflow, you will have to spawn or Birth all your particles at once, frame 0. For corona motion blur to work. Its always  hard to work if you need motion blur and particles with corona at the moment.Hopefully devs can sort this out ;)

Story of my life. Changing topology and motion blur I would LOVE to have in Corona.

I didn't want it to sound deprecating, sorry for that. Lets phrase it that way - new physical material is not well suited for taking artistic liberties.

LOL ya still does not make it a good situation. I want the Dev's to commit to never removing the "old" Corona material.

Please Devs, dont release this shader without thinking about it more. It is not ready to replace the Corona material.
We are also not sold on the quality in any image you have shared so far. That blog post did not do it justice.

I just don't get this "dont break the physical rules"

It makes no sense for a rendering pipeline. You will always have to bend things on the shader to make it look real.
And to others points, photos and "real" world images get touched up so much. I think it will be a handcuff for Corona render personally.

I am rendering some objects using "Render Selected" and they are planes with a texture applied. When the objects move in front of another scene object,
instead of respecting the alpha channel, you see the object through the alpha. It would be great if render selected could respect geometry with an Alpha Map
and show it as cutout.

We already have multiple issues / feature requests for tyFlow + Corona.

Let's just remember this is not just for Tyflow. Anything with changing topology is a no go to render with Corona. For us, it's a lot of scenes.

In short:
- it does not allow users to create fake materials (materials that are not possible in real life like plasti-metal)

I can understand that logic, but I have always found not being able to cheat shaders out of real world is a big problem for 3D artists.
To get realism you have to break the rules in CG (my opinion). You will always lead to a situation in a render where you say "well this is physically right, but something looks off"
Then you will be stuck with these basic PBR controls.

I don't think the renders in your example page (https://forum.corona-renderer.com/index.php?topic=31802) look all that great, even a bit more CG than usual. I loved Corona for how the materials looked compared to other renders. I hope the PBR look improves.

Ya the problem comes from particles being born over a duration of frames. That book scene has all geo spawned at one frame and never changes its count.

Yes this does suck. The motion blur issues with Corona are getting tiresome.
