General CG Discussion / Looking for Australian Marri wood texture

Does anyone can help and maybe have Australian Marri Wood texture. It's hard to find it anywhere and I'm not from that part of world to photograph it to create good texture.

[Max] I need help! / [solved] Corona Converter doesn't open in max 2022

Corona 7 Converter  doesn't open in max 2022 anymore. When I try to start it I can see it's window blinking for millisecond but it closes right away. Please advice it's quite urgent.

Hardware / New workstation :New Threadripper 3960X or 3970X or Ryzen 3950X

Okay finally time to upgrade my workstation. I was waiting and waiting for 7nm AMD and here it is. Now the problem which one to go with.
For me it’s not only rendering but lot of modeling in 3dsmax and multitasking (rendering in Corona and Redshift, zbrush sculpting at the same time etc.) Also cloth and particle simulation. So I need one powerful workstation that can do it all :slight_smile:
Is it worth getting the 32 core beast 3970x or a bit overkill and go with 24 cores as it’s 100mhz (3.8Ghz) base clock faster which is important in 3dsmax as it’s one core app.
I’m not sure about Ryzen 3950x as I read that it will require water cooling and because if Threadripper size I assume air is still good and quieter option.
Whats your take an all this?

Basically when I put in CoronaOutput HDRI map to control it every time run new render I have to change main exposure.

[Max] I need help! / matte shadow on white background

Ok might sound strange but client wants a render with matte shadow alpha but on white background. I would like to avoid adding white background in photoshop and basically want to render object on white background with matte shadow alpha. Right now when using Corona shadow catcher I'm getting black background with shadow alpha. Anyway to get white background and shadow alpha?
In my attached examples first one is render straight from Corona. Second one is collapsed white background and added corona alpha shadow and this is what I want straight form render engine.

[Max] I need help! / fireflies when Lightmixing

I'm getting lot of fireflies when using Lightmix. Basically when bumping up lights, fireflies appear. Maybe I'm doing something wrong when using Lightmix. Shoudl all lights have 1 power as starting point when using lightmix to avoid those fireflies?

[Max] I need help! / corona converter gone

I had to do disk format and after reinstalling everything (3dsmax , then corona) I don't see anymore corona converter i right click tab.
I tried reinstalling corona but still no sign of it.
Not sure what other corona tabs I might be missing form right click menu. Any way to clean all this?

Gallery / disqualified work for 3d cg environment competition 2017

I decided to use Corona 1.7 for heavy exterior scene for e-on 3d CG environment competition 2017. Today I received an email from e-on that they want to see screenshots of the scene because it looked "too good". After sending screenshots etc they asked if I used any of their software. The rules stated:  "You may use your application of choice, in combination with any of the e-on software products. This includes any version of VUE (Esprit, Studio, Complete, Infinite or xStream), including the free Personal Learning Edition and the free VUE Pioneer." and I though that I can use any software I want.To make long story short I was disqualified :( Anyway I was so happy with working in Corona on this scene (i'm very, very old VRay user) that I bought Corona license :). I didn't want to cheat on Chaos so I pull the plug and got it when I heard that Chaos connected officially with Corona :)
Anyway here's the scene. Again working on materials and lighting was really awesome experience in Corona, even that the scene was huge it's been very responsive to see the adjustments etc. And oh my the quality of light is amazing!

I'm new here and testing Corona for now but I have question regarding buying year FairSaaS license. When it runs out, does extending for another year is the same price or there is some discount?
