[Max] General Discussion / About proxies
« on: 2013-07-28, 17:02:55 »
I am working on a scene with lot of vegetation and would like to know more about proxies with corona

Are they meant to help performance in viewport or do they help with rendering performance ? I mean how are they better than simple instances ?

Thanks

[Max] Resolved Bugs / Bidir and emission map

Corona is crashing when I try to use an emission map (Mix bitmap+corona solidTex for temperature) with bidir renderer.

It renders all edges, all quads get triangulated, even with the option "all edges" turned off.

Any chance to get this fixed ?

[Max] Tutorials & Guides / Volumetric Lights trick

Just a trick so it's fake until Keymaster add proper atmospheric effects to Corona.

The trick is to use an animated plane with a pure white material and use the motion blur effect.

I recommend to make a separate pass for the effect, use an override black material on everything (but the plane obviously). For the comp part I get a good result in photoshop with linear dodge at 25%.

Would it be possible to have something like vraydirt ?

I don't know if it's a bug but Corona lights are too hard to select.

Work in Progress/Tests / Animation Test

Some school work.

It took an average of 30 sec per frame to render on my i72600K

I was getting too much flickering so I saved the HDcahe solution then rendered the video.

The video was edited in AE to remove noise and add the glow effect.

Is HDcache calculation view dependent ?

When I use a texture in the emission slot it takes at least 30 sec to start rendering.

Any chance you make this multithreaded ?

A simple test scene to learn Corona.

I used PT + HD cache, rendering time is 20mn with a i72600K.

[Max] Resolved Feature Requests / Skylight Portals
« on: 2012-10-18, 03:20:23 »
I did some quick tests of interiors and it appears that the difference (noise/rendering time) between using environment light only vs Corona planar lights on openings is quite significant.

So the question, are skylight portals on your to do list ?

Hi,

Just downloaded Corona, looks very promising so far

Obviously it's fast so I would like some real time feedback and selected Corona renderer but it makes 3dsmax crashing evry time

I am using 3dsmax 2013 x64

Someone else ?
