I'm making some personal project with an animation, and was looking at the denoisers and found a very big difference between the Intel and the corona High quality one. The only problem with the intel is the temporal consistency so its a no go for animation ( hope it can change in the future!)
The corona One cant denoise quite well and can introduce some ugly artifacts, the intel one is doing a great job cleaning most of the image and retaining a great amount of detail with no visible artifacts.
Both renders were made with a noise level limit of 9% and a denoising amount of 8% and 1 radius
Tent image filter for both

Biggest difference can be seen under the table where corona denoiser shows some weird shapes, the noise amount its higher on Corona denoiser.
couldn't find the corona comparison tool if you want to look at them

No love for this one :(

No worries, we are tacking the forums. Just please give us a bit more time. :)

@arqrenderz
have you tried rendering animation with intel denoiser?
it should behave similarly to nvidia’s one (also not recommended for anims) and this one did surprisingly well when I tested it.
-
Hi Piotrus, i definitely tried it ! https://www.behance.net/gallery/114845261/Broome-Soho
can say it works .

looks good.
and looks great for something not meant for anims. quite similar behaviour to nvidia's denoiser I would say.

@arqrenderz - could you actually send us the scene from your 1st post? I am especially interested in the weird "swirly" artifacts under the tabletop. If it's under NDA, could you maybe isolate some of the objects so that the issue is still reproducible?
You can find the uploader here and let me know about the file name after the upload: https://corona-renderer.com/upload
Thanks in advance!
Other than that, we are aware that the Corona HQ denoiser is not performing that great in some cases - especially with fine bump maps (which are quite common - e.g. on walls).
We have an internal task about it, and the denoiser could either be reverted to the previous behavior (blurring bump mapped materials as much as any other ones) or improved.

Hi Maru, uploaded through dropbox, the scene is called Broome Soho Archive
If you have Pulze scene manager you can see every scene with its config
Thx
